STATE TIMES NEWS KATHUA: District Red CrossSociety on Thursday organiseda blood donation camp atKathua District Hospital as apart to celebrate the Red CrossDay.
DC Kathua, Ramesh Kumarwas the Chief Guest who for-mally inaugurated the BloodDonation Camp and as manyas 15 volunteers from all sec-tions of the society participatedand donated blood for the noblecause to save precious lives.
DC Kathua who is also theChairman of District Red CrossSociety laid stress on creatingawareness and motivating peo-
ple to be active members whocan provide relief to the humanbeings in distress and desolationdue to war, food shortage, epi-demic diseases or naturalcalamities by conducting mem-bership drives.
He further highlighted theimportance and benefits ofblood donation and said thatsuch camps would go a long wayto minimise the paucity of bloodin health institutions time totime.

Deputy CommissionerReasi, Sr. Superintendentof Police Reasi, DistrictForest Officer Reasi,Chief Prosecuting OfficerCourts Reasi and ChiefMedical Officer Reasiwere present in the campwhich was attended by 90people from the area.
Chief ProsecutingOfficer Courts Reasithrew light on the menaceof drug addiction/drugpeddling and the relevantsections of law underwhich the punishment isapplicable for such acts.
DFO Reasi also spokeabout the role of forests inmaintaining a healthyenvironment for propernourishment of the humanbeings and he said that
the people who areinvolved in damagingforests/hunting in theforests may attract sternpunishments.
Chief Medical OfficerReasi also spoke on theoccasion and briefed thevillagers about the illeffects of drugs on health.
SSP Reasi while address-ing the participants insist-ed upon the public to makeevery effort to overcomethe menace of drug addic-tion. It was informed tothe gathering that DistrictPolice Reasi in cooperationwith the civil administra-tion is making every effortto control this menace.People were asked to ren-der a helping hand to thePolice Department in thisdirection, so that theeffects of drug addictionare brought to negligiblelevel.
DC Reasi threw light onthe topic and made theparticipants aware aboutneed for organising suchcamps.
STATE TIMES NEWS REASI: To intensify SwachhBharat Campaign, Districtadministration Reasi onThursday launched 'clean up-polythene operation' acrossthe district. The drive waslaunched by DistrictDevelopment Commissioner,Ravinder Kumar at AgarJitto Temple shrine, as part ofSwachhta Week beingobserved statewide.
Students, teachers, localpeople and government offi-cials took part in the drive toclean the area includingshrine premises, main bazaarand Local Park.
They collected garbage andpolythene bags to clear thearea and urged upon the peo-ple to avoid use of bannedplastic material.
Sub-Divisional MagistrateKatra Neelam Khajuria,Assistant CommissionerDevelopment M Y Malik,Tehsildar Katra Mohit Raina,BDOs, other officers were alsopresent.
Meanwhile, the DDCinspected shops and other

Similarprogrammes were organizedat Nav Deviyan, Middle schoolChapanoo, tehsil head quarterPouni, Sersundwan and atother places of the district.

After listening theirdemands /problems, DDCassured them that he wouldtake up the issue with higherauthorities for immediateredressal of their demands.
After getting assurancefrom DC Kishtwar, the SafaiKaramcharis called off theirprotest.
