    Seniors Food Security WorkerPart-Time Position

    The Seniors Food Security Worker will work collaboratively with the seniors programsteam and under the general direction of the Coordinator of Seniors Programs to develop,implement and facilitate community kitchens for seniors on the Westside of Vancouver.

    Are you passionate about food security and community building? This position plays akey role in developing senior-led community kitchens that meet the social, cultural andfood security needs of seniors living on the Westside. The Seniors Food Security Workerwill create a welcoming and safe environment that builds community capacity, engagesparticipation of vulnerable seniors, and improves access to affordable food andresources.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    Collaborate to deliver project activities such as: promotion & recruitment, inventory ofequipment & supplies, meal planning and group facilitation

    Engage participation of vulnerable seniors Support seniors to identify their needs and strengths, and share skills with peers Co-facilitate volunteer training and development Collect stories and feedback, and support project monitoring and evaluation Assist with report writing and sustainability planning

    Strengthen connections between Westside seniors and food programs

    Qualifications:

    One years recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education,training and experience

    Passionate about food security and/or working with seniors and food Understands and Values diversity Creativity, enthusiasm, flexibility and a good sense of humor Working knowledge of the Neighbourhood House Model of service delivery Strong organizational skills with attention to detail Excellent communication skills both verbal & written Ability to work independently and in a team environment Ability to work flexible hours and participate in KNH special events Strong computer skills in MS word, excel and Internet Knowledge of logic models is an asset Second language is an asset Criminal record check required Food Safe Certificate required Community Kitchens Certificate is an asset

    Job Details:

    Salary: $16.22 / hrSchedule: 8 hours weekly, includes program planning, delivery and administration

    Location: Offsite at the Kits House Seniors Resource Centre on 8th and Vine StreetExpected Start Date: June 17th, 2013
