Volunteers Needed Washoe County is looking for drivers with a volunteer spirit to deliver Meals on

Wheels to homebound seniors who would benefit from a healthy meal and a friendly visit. Together we have the ability to enrich the lives of seniors in need that promotes

dignity, a sense of well-being and independence. We are also looking for transportation service drivers beginning in 2019. Contact us at 328-2575!

As the year comes to a close, those of us at Washoe County Senior Services would like to draw at-tention to not a single volunteer, but to an extraordinary group of individuals that have been helping out here at the Senior Center for the last three years. Every Monday, through the school year, stu-dents enrolled in the Comprehensive Life Skills Program at Hug High have been coming to the cen-ter to practice skills that will aid them in earning employment and opportunities in life away from high school. The students utilize public transportation to come to and from the center, learn how to keep track of their working times, and exercise the skills of receiving direction and then carrying out those directions on their own and as a group. The students have historically aided with keeping the center clean and in tip top shape for those of us that work and visit on a daily basis. Over the years several of the students have really excelled in their skill development and have shown the tal-ents that are required to take on life after high school and become members and leaders of the working community. The Hug High students are here on Monday mornings, so if you happen to be here and see them participating in our community, please greet them and let them know how much they are appreciated. They are truly an asset and partner in making things a little nicer that utilize the Senior Center. "Happy New Year" and "Thank You" Hug High students.
