SEN Assessment Team Responsibilities

• Manage referrals for statutory assessment• Monitor Quality of Annual Reviews & Pupil Progress• Amend statements every key stage or 3 years unless

significant changes • Attend Independent/Non Maintained reviews every 2

years as a minimum in consultation and co-ordination with Social Care

Support transitions through:– Attendance at all Year 5 annual reviews– Attendance at all Year 11 reviews– Attendance at all Year 14 reviews

SEN Assessment Team Responsibilities• Manage and represent LA at SEND Tribunals • Multi agency working including the development of Education,

Health and Care Plans• Statutory assessment planning/review meetings• Management of Placements in Special Schools, DSP’s and

ARC’s• Support and manage complex cases

– Change of provision– Individual needs not met– OLA monitoring; attendance, exclusion, change of need– Safeguarding– Conflict resolution– Mediation– Refusal to assess

Devney, Lynn Majakas, Kash Rajput, Lynn Robinson • Tribunals • Management of Complex Cases

– Multi agency working – Change of provision– Complex annual reviews and amendments– Individual needs not met– OLA monitoring; attendance, exclusion, change of need– Safeguarding– Conflict resolution– Mediation– Refusal to assess

• Provide the administration of statutory assessment including the collection of information and all letters

• Administer Annual Reviews; dates, input of data to EMS

• SEN Area recently updated• Includes all the most recent documentation

and guidance (still some to add)• We are currently putting in examples of good

practice in relation to annual reviews• Remains the Local Authorities preferred

communication tool e.g. SEN update, courses information

• Egress – safe external email system
