Major Business and Accomplishments The major focus of the Senate Library Committee work during the 2007-2008 academic year was on organizing the Third Annual Authors at OU: Celebration of the Book. In the previous two years, the committee celebrated book publications (2006) and journal articles (2007). The committee voted for making a tradition of celebrating books and journal articles in alternating years.

The third Annual Authors at OU event focused on book publications. The event was held on Wednesday, March 19, 2008 from 2:00-4:00pm., on the 4th floor of the Kresge Library. Books authored or co-authored by OU faculty members that were published in the last two years were invited. This year, 53 books by 40 faculty members were honored at the event.

The Third Annual Authors at OU Event

The Senate Library Committee and Kresge Library are pleased to announce the third annual Authors at OU event to honor the authors among our faculty who have recently published. We celebrated book publications in 2006 and journal articles in 2007. This year, the Authors at OU event will focus on book publications, making a tradition of celebrating books and journal articles in alternating years. The event will be held on Wednesday, March 19, 2008 from 2:00-4:00 pm., on the 4th floor of the Kresge Library. Refreshments will be served.

In order to honor our faculty authors, we invite all faculty who have authored or co-authored books, written book chapters, or edited volumes in 2006 and 2007 to share their publications for display and be recognized at the event. In addition, the Senate Library Committee will select two authors and invite them to make brief presentations.

Please note the following guidelines for submitting book publications: Any form of book publication is eligible (e.g., books, book chapters, edited

volumes). There is no limit on the number of submissions per faculty member. The publication date must be between January, 2006 and December, 2007. The deadline for submission for inclusion in the event is January 31, 2008. Faculty authors should provide copies of their publications to Kath Borg,

Executive Secretary to the Dean of the Kresge Library, before the submission due date of Jan. 31, 2008. Please inform Kath if you would like to donate your copy to the Library, or if you wish to have it returned after the event.

If you have any questions, feel free to contact Ji-Eun Lee ([email protected]), Chair of the Senate Library Committee, or Julie Voelck ([email protected]), Dean of the Library.

We hope that you will submit your book publications and join us for this celebration. We look forward to showcasing the outstanding scholarly work of OU’s faculty.
