This celebration will give both professionals and those interested in semiotics the possibility to take part in a three day programme. On May 30th we invite newcomers to an introduction to design semiotics by means of workshops and other fun activities. The following two days (May 31st & June 1st) are dedicated to sharing thinking and networking between semiotics professionals in the sector. Semiofest, in its essence, brings together both professional applied and academic semioticians to interact and exchange knowledge at a unique annual event. Semiofest actively encourages guests to exchange ideas, viewpoints, insights and methods in order to learn from each other.

General Information:

Where? Anaglifos, Art Factory – Monec, 17 08003 - Barcelona, Spain When? May 30th, 31st&June 1st Who will be interested? Professionals and students/general public interested in the areas of semiotics/semiotic thinking.

Why Barcelona?

Semiofest is a diverse international and gathering, planned specifically for semioticians. Out of a possible 3 locations Barcelona won the bid for Semiofest 2013 and has been chosen for this year’s festival. In addition to the magic and attractiveness of the city, we couldn’t have asked for a better location! Barcelona is the gateway to southern Europe, the centre of an economic Euroregion, an important capital of the Mediterranean area, a bridge to North Africa and a link to Latin America. Amongst the countless conference venues offered in and around Barcelona, we have chosen a venue that we think perfectly suits the event - the modern and welcoming Anaglifos - Art Factory, which offers a great creative workshoping space as well as an exciting ambience to contribute to the event.

What can you expect?

A three-day activity plan every item of which promises to stimulate Semiotic Thinking. Thanks to the location and the attendance of many dynamic, passionate guests, attendees will be able to learn new theories and techniques and to share their thoughts and experiences on semiotics in an enjoyable interactive and innovative way. We guarantee your departure from Barcelona will leave you with an enhanced perception of the world, great memories, new friends, and perhaps even a new tan!

It’s finally here: a celebration dedicated to Semiotic Thinking. After last year’s success in London 2012, Semiofest is making

its way to Barcelona in 2013!

This celebration will give both professionals and those interested in semiotics the possibility to take part in a

three day programme. On May 30th we invite newcomers to an introduction to design semiotics by means of workshops and other fun activities. The following two days (May 31st & June

1st) are dedicated to sharing thinking and networking between semiotics professionals in the sector.

Semiofest, in its essence, brings together both professional applied and academic semioticians to interact and exchange

knowledge at a unique annual event. Semiofest actively encourages guests to exchange ideas, viewpoints, insights and

methods in order to learn from each other.

The Workshops – May 29 and 30

The world of signs and symbols should be fascinating for everyone! That’s what we are trying to convey with this celebration. This workshop has been conceived with students and non-professionals in mind. This workshop will be run by experienced, talented figures in the field of design semiotics.

The Conferences – May 31 and June 1

The essence of Semiofest is the creation of an inspiring environment for professional semioticians; it is a forum dedicated to thought leaders in the field, giving them a forum for sharing their skills, their theories and the latest techniques in short 15 minute presentations. The feedback from last year’s event was universally positive. We believe Semiofest is a unique event that you will long remember!

The Goal Semiofest aims to provide a welcoming and enriching experience for our guests. It is meant to be a place where semioticians and the less experienced - aspiring to do semiotics - can learn from each other in a supportive atmosphere; to strengthen the discipline and to grow the international network.

The event will be divided into two phases: Workshops and Conferences. Both of them guarantee a fun, fresh and interactive experience.
