Session Description – FAAST

Fike's FAAST is very early warning fire detection featuring the latest in Fire Alarm Aspiration Sensing

Technology. Compatible and complementary to each of Fike's fire alarm and fire suppression systems, this

technology uses an advanced, intelligent smoke detector that actively draws air into its sensor through a pipe

network. FAAST combines dual source blue LED and infra-red laser optical smoke detection with advanced

algorithms to detect a wide range of fires while maintaining enhanced immunity to nuisance particulates, which

enables FAAST to deliver highly accurate and discreet early warning fire detection for a wide variety of

environments/applications.

FAAST is an intelligent fire alarm device and acts, reports and programs similar to any SLC device (including

detectors and pull stations). A fully integrated part of Fike's family of fire alarm and fire suppression releasing

panels, FAAST is easily programmable, reducing overall cost and commissioning of the entire fire alarm system.

OSHA. He is also a long standing member of NFPA. Session Description – Fire Alarm System Installation and Test Methods

M.C. Dean will introduce and discuss various methods, reasons, and examples of their innovative pre-

fabrication and pre-installation testing methods of fire alarm systems. This session will review the

following:

• Describe the Pre-fabrication assembly of materials and equipment;

• Describe the Pre-installation, Installation, and Check-Out (PITCO) process of equipment testing

prior to installation on-site;

• Discuss an actual project using pre-installation and testing activities;

• Discuss troubleshooting and testing software prior to installation on-site; and

• Highlight a case study of how PITCO provided a test environment for adapting fire alarm system

software to meet project specifications.

manufacturer of Fire-Link. As early as 2006, Mr. Van Den Enden sold some of the very first Fire-Link

systems. In May of 2009, he joined Signalink Technologies as a Regional Manager. His extensive

knowledge in Fire-Link field operations, coupled with the best line carrier technology engineers,

created Fire-Link II, which has been on the market now for over 3 years. Mr. Van Den Enden now

serves as Product Manager for Fire-Link II. Session Description – Fire-Link II, Leading Technology for the Fire Protection Industry

This session will review Fire-Link®II, manufactured by Signalink Technologies Inc. Fire-Link®II is a

complete audibility upgrade solution, utilizing a revolutionary new power-line communications

technology that signals through the building’s existing AC Power electrical wiring. This advanced Fire

Alarm notification signaling device has a fully addressable and supervised 87 dBA in-suite device

“mini-horn” that can be installed anywhere there is an AC outlet. The Fire-Link®II system attaches to

any existing Fire Alarm Control Panel and is a CSFM and UL / ULC listed Fire Signaling System, created

to meet NFPA72 standards for the purpose of overcoming audibility issues prevalent in older multi-

unit residential buildings.

Session Description – Enhanced Corrosion Protection for Fire Sprinkler Systems

This presentation will cover the basics of corrosion. A brief description of how corrosion occurs will be

presented. The presentation will define and describe the various types of corrosion, specifically highlighting

Microbiologically Influenced Corrosion (MIC). It will cover techniques used for analyzing corrosion such as

water testing and weight-loss coupons. It will focus specifically on designing and engineering fire sprinkler

systems for enhance corrosion protection. We will talk in depth about mitigation techniques used for wet, dry,

and pre-action fire sprinkler systems such as air release vents, biocides, corrosion inhibitors, and nitrogen

systems. Lastly, we will go over the economic impact of corrosion within the fire sprinkler industry.
