Another year has gone by, and it is time
to update you with the Well Log Semes-
ter in Review (SIR) Fall 2019 edition. SIR is
a special issue of the Well Log, covering
the bi-annual review of TAMU- SPE’s ac-
tivities. The Well Log is TAMU- SPE’s stu-
dent-run publication, established in Fall
2014. We provide latest information on
guest speakers, trending petroleum in-
dustry technical/non-technical topics,
and TAMU- SPE events.
This SIR special issue
will display the ex-
pertise of our SPE-
committees in bring-
ing educative and insightful events to
our student members. With that, I would
like to thank all committees for their hard
work and dedication.
Thank you for your attention and we
hope you enjoy reading this issue.

TAMU-SPE goes to Calgary
ATCE 2019 was a celebration of
the accomplishments Aggie pe-
troleum engineers continue to
strive for. From networking with
fellow student chapters from
around the globe, to one of our
very own achieving first place in
the undergraduate student pa-
per contest. ATCE 2019 provided
a unique atmosphere promot-
ing the sharing of ideas be-
tween student leaders, while
offering immense industry learn-
ing opportunities. This took
place over several days of
presentations and displays from
all corners of the E&P, services,
and consulting sectors of the oil
and gas industry.
Finally, based on the achieve-
ments from the 2018-2019 Of-
ficer Team, TAMU-SPE was the
only North American university
presented with the Presidential
Award for Outstanding Student
Chapter in 2019. This accom-
plishments marks five consecu-
tive years of this student chap-
ters dedication to excellence.

to jump start their careers through
both internship and fulltime oppor-
tunities offered by companies who
attended the event. At this year’s
CEE, TAMU-SPE proudly hosted over
a hundred recruiters from 22 com-
panies and it was attended by
over 400 members! We would like
to thank our Platinum sponsor, Mit-
sui E&P USA LLC, for making this

portunity for our members to
learn about the parts of a wire-
line truck and how these service
trucks work with operators in the
field.

The PETROBOWL® championship is a venue for
SPE student chapters across the globe to com-
pete with each other over a series of quick fire
-rounds, answering industry-related questions.
Students compete at six regional qualifiers
across the globe for the opportunity to com-
pete at the international championship during
the following year’s ATCE. To prepare for the competition and re-
cruit competitors, the TAMU Petrobowl committee initiated online
quizzes throughout the summer of 2019. Recruited team members
then went through rigorous practice sessions to prepare for the re-
gional competition.

Executive Series
It was a great honor to us to host Mr. Darren Woods, the CEO and
Chairman of ExxonMobil, at our Executive Series event this semes-
ter. Our Executive Series initiative aims to invite senior managers
and executives of major oil and gas companies to share their
roads to success with our student members. As an Aggie himself,
it was a pleasure to hear Mr. Woods speak about his pathway to
success and hear about how the Aggie core values resonate
within his own company.
Thank You
