RADHAKRISHNAN, Hon'ble Union Minister of State for Road Transport, Highways and Shipping on 21.09.16 visited the Airport Metro Station along with Thiru Pankaj Kumar Bansal, MD CMRL explained the various features of the Airport Metro Station.

Underground Sections & Tunneling Work Progress as on 31.08.2016Commissioner of Metro Railway Safety (CMRS) inspection conducted between Alandur and St Thomas Mount

Thiru Sudarson Nayak, Commissioner of Metro Railway Safety (CMRS), South Eastern Circle along with Thiru E. Srinivas, Dy. CRS, S&T/Bangalore and Thiru Uttam Prakash, Dy. CRS/Mechanical, Lucknow had carried out inspection from Alandur to St Thomas Mount of Corridor II in the last week of September 2016.

During the inspection, several parameters were inspected namely the sharpest vertical curve, sharpest horizontal curve of the section, gradient of track, Walkway clearances and width of walkway, Scissors crossover laid ahead of St.Thomas Mount, Horizontal and vertical clearances at St.Thomas Mount platform were checked with respect to the Schedule and Dimensions of Standard Gauge and observed all dimensions are well within the limits specified. An inspection of Diesel Shunting Locomotive and Rolling Stock was also conducted at Koyambedu Depot.

CORRIDOR-I: Track work completed on entire elevated section between Saidapet Ramp and Airport for the

length of 18695m with 23 turnouts and RDSO and CMRS inspection were completed for passenger operation.

CORRIDOR-II: Track work completed on entire elevated section between Thirumangalam ramp and

St. Thomas Mount for length of 24788m with 27 turnouts.

In the underground section between Thirumangalam ramp and Chennai Central, out of 19888m, Track

work completed for the length of 14579m with 5 turnouts from Thirumangalam Ramp to Nehru Park in

downline.

In up line, track work completed from Thirumangalam ramp to Pachaiyappas College and Kilpauk to

Nehru Park. Balance track work in progress between Pachaiyappa’s College and Kilpauk

DEPOT : Track work completed for entire depot length of 14606m with 41 turnouts.

Trains commissioned and conditionally accepted by CMRL:

Maintenance of CMRL trains:

A total of 37 trains including the 9 trains of import category, have

been delivered to CMRL Koyambedu Depot.

¯ Nine trains have been issued with completion certificate and seven

among these nine trains have been conditionally accepted by CMRL

in June 2015. Two additional trains have been conditionally

accepted in May and June 2016. Five additional trains have been

conditionally accepted in September 2016.

¯ The total accepted 14 trains are put under revenue service of Stage-

1 and Stage – 1A sections of CMRL. Maintenance activities on these

14 trains are carried out by CMRL Rolling Stock Maintenance Team

and the warranty obligation is done by the contractor.

All other trains delivered to CMRL are under various stages of

testing and commissioning in CMRL depot and mainline.

¯ Preventive maintenance activities on these 14 trains are

carried out by CMRL Rolling Stock Maintenance Team and

corrective maintenance is done by the contractor.

¯ Preventive maintenance activities include 72 hrs inspection,

monthly maintenance, quarterly maintenance, half yearly

maintenance and annual maintenance.

¯ RE-railing equipment mock-up was successfully completed thon 26 Sep 2016. During the mock up, functioning and working

of Re-railing equipment such as Power packs, Hydraulic Jacks,

Spreader, cutter, Air-bags, etc. are checked for proper functioning.

Trains under manufacturing at Sricity:

¯ Trains 38 to 42 are under various stages of production

and testing, as per the schedule, at Alstom factory, Sri

City.

the “Employee of the Month” of Sep 2016, for

valuable contributions mentioned below.

¯ He has coordinated for the NSD installation work in

the mainline with coordination of Operations and

Electrical Department.

¯ He followed up to get 5 trains ready for Stage-1A.

¯ ECP closure tracking and removing hurdles for

implementation.

¯ ECP document review and verification.

¯ Following up the corrective maintenance activities

with Alstom

In an endeavor to cater to the Chennai

public better to travel from Airport Metro

Station to the Chennai Airport. Shuttle car

services are being provided from 01.10.16 from

Airport Metro Station.

Initially 4 Nos of Shuttle services will be

made available from 01.10.16 at an interval of

every 15 mins from CMRL Airport Metro Station

free of cost to passengers.

The Shuttle services are being implemented

from Airport Metro Station at 10.00 am on

01.10.16.

The CMRL library has been renovated and relocated to the sixth floor of CMRL Admin Building it has started function on 30.09.16.
