o n 3 April 2017, Seletar Airport welcomed the legendary Breitling

DC-3 which made a stop in Singapore as part of its world tour.

The 77 year-old twin engine, propeller-driven DC-3 was initially flown as a commercial airline under American Airlines. It was used by the American military forces between 1942 and 1944 and returned to commercial aviation subsequently. Today, there are fewer than 150 DC-3 aircraft in flightworthy condition worldwide, including the Breitling DC-3.

Breitling aims to break the world record as the oldest aircraft to circumnavigate the globe. The aircraft’s world tour journey began in Geneva on 9 March 2017 and ended at the Breitling Sion Airshow 2017 in September 2017.

t his year is an important one for Shell Aviation. It marks

its 80th anniversary of servicing Singapore’s aviation industry with high quality products, services and safety standards at its two key locations – Seletar Airport and Changi Airport – the world’s sixth busiest international airport.

Shell is a valued partner at both airports, providing essential, end-to-end integrated refueling services to its customers. As an industry leader in aviation fuel

supply chain management, Shell offers extensive experience in operating fuel facilities in numerous airports worldwide, bringing global best practices to Seletar Airport, which brings to its customers assurance in product quality, excellence in service delivery, and continuous improvement through innovations.

To commemorate its 80th anniversary, Shell Aviation initiated its “800th Flight Giveaway”

scheme at Seletar Airport. For every 800th customer flight refueled with Jet A1 or Avgas, the pilot and supporting ground crew receive a prize from Shell, along with a team photograph souvenir.

Since establishing its presence at Seletar Airport, Shell has contributed to more than just refueling operations. The company places a lot of emphasis on safety – Shell, in collaboration with CAG, conducts regular seminars on fuel handling, safety and oil spill response, in addition to the bi-annual safety day event hosted at the airport.

Richard Pereira, Shell Aviation General Manager for Asia Pacific and Middle East says, “We are excited to continue on our growth journey with Seletar Airport – we look forward to strengthening our ties with the Seletar Airport community and working closely with them towards making Seletar Airport the premier aviation hub in the region.”
