As electronic forms of information have anchored themselves into multiple areas of society, an unparalleled ability to attain knowledge has manifested itself through digital means. Because of this gradual infusion of cyber-collected knowledge, a new method to gather information has risen. The traditional method exists as a vector that is moving in a direct path from one set of static data to another. Through virtual networks, tools such as Wikipedia, Facebook, and various bookmark tagging services have allowed data to exist in a state of constant change, and create pathways that have the components of time and subjectivity built into them. It is through this seemingly chaotic, open ended potentiality that hidden logics become apparent, and gravities emerge from an endless tapestry of objects. Traditional methods also do not allow for a user moderated reorganizing of information, or information that can be self organized. A new typology of discourse must be created, one that supersedes the “read” methodology and evolves into a “read/write”.
The essence of these emerging technologies is the openness to the future and the element of possibility that they inherently con-tain. Through this new typology of accumulating data, the way one moves is through the potential of a direction they do not immediately know. These linkages exist in the virtual in that they represent the new, the unthought, and the unrealized. The linkages are the space of possibility and becoming, of what might have been. Through the study of the virtual, the user would provide the necessary means to categorize and relate data, and would redefine conventional systems. They would act as an enabler, a facilitator of interaction that stimu-lates alternative debates and speculations. There is no clear cut map to traverse this space, as movement through it is activated by way of the user’s experience and their inherent subjectivity.

The introduction of DVDs in the late 1990s revolutionized the way in which we experience movies. It brought a quality never seen or heard before to the homes of con-sumers, with an ease of use that maintained desirability. Now nearing the end of their physical lifespan, a place needs to be created to preserve and archive these as well as other analog media, in order for them to be shared and shown to others.
This digital repository is composed of three functions: a place to convert old film reels, VHS tapes and DVDs to a digital version with an infinite lifespan, a storage space where the physical copies can be kept with an efficient temperature and level of humidity, and a theater space where the moving images can be shared with others. This would enable that these images would not be lost and instead are shared for the benefit of all.

William Penn built a house for his daughter in order for her to be away from the overcrowding and pollution of the city. He built a house for her on the outskirts, where the air and water was cleaner, and she became an accomplished botanist and gardener. In staying true with her ideals of horticulture, a re-purposing of this historical house exists as Philadelphia’s first sustainable hotel.
The proposed hotel is set up as a compound of room mod-ules, allowing for guests to be spaced apart and experience the natural elements in their own way. The modules would utilize heavy timber frame construction, using local species of wood to anchor their identity in the Delaware Valley region.

The Indian Ocean is where ships go to be repurposed into scrap materials. It is also home to one of the largest shipping routes in the world. Many countries that border the ocean are currently in a state of conflict and a lucrative market has formed in the way of arms smuggling.
Arms smuggling itself is a cat and mouse game between the merchants and the authorities. The anonymity of a plurality of containers on a cargo ship allows for this market to exist. A space needs to be created to mediate between these two groups, a neutral zone where agreements and plans can be made.

The hexagon is the six sided extrapolation of a circle. Its shape allows for tesselation, as the table itself acts as a singular unit. An individual iteration can be an end table, whereas multiple can be formed together to make larger surfaces. This piece was created from reclaimed PVC pipe, angled fittings and threaded rod.

A man who lives indulgently, even past the limits he sets for himself, needs an environment to contribute to his tendencies. This self chosen alcoholic escapes from reality not only through drink, but also through his resi-dences tailored to his prime passion.
His retreat allows for a place of solitude where he can consume as much of the poison as his body will allow, while protecting him from the outside world. It acts as a transistory element, as it makes him choose if he would rather be protected from problems external, or from himself.
His rowhome expands on this and acts as a place of se-lective display. Now, away from the isolation the retreat provides, he is forced to showcase his habit (and subse-quent choice) to the world.

The exterior of the train station was left intact in order to ensure a connection to the history that makes up this section of the Reading Viaduct. The interior of the train station has evolved into that of a cafe, maintaining a separation present on the outside but an interwo-ven connection within. Also, portions of the original viaduct are re-moved and showcased to the public, instead of being hidden through restrictive access or through years of obscurity, allowing the public to engage with this relic in an unprecedented way.
The Cinema and surrounding site represents a place that provides an excuse for activity, whether that be for food, for entertainment, or for leisure. A new system of bicycling and walking is introduced on site, by using the space located in the center of Spring Garden Street. Lanes for both walkers and cyclists are provided, and allow for a safe method of transportation through out the city. This typology is also present on the top of the viaduct, where views of the city skyline and the river can be seen.
Through utilizing methods of regenerative energy such as photovol-taic cells and a vegetative roof, the site aims to offset the number of years it existed as a refuelling station, to keep the train cars full with coal. The permeable roof gathers rain water and collects it in cisterns where the water is stored to be used for both cooling and sanitary needs. The photovoltaic cells oriented towards the south ensure that the optimum efficiency is reached, and excess power can be stored on site with the battery array. Through this act of remedia-tion, perhaps in time the site may be known for its contribution to the environment rather that its original, harming purpose.
