Every  corner  of  the  Google  campus  breathes  creaOvity  with  a  design  that  gives  employees  efficient  workflow  and  an  even  beSer  work  life.      Google  is  known  for  its  dedicaOon  to  creaOvity  and  collaboraOon  in  the  workplace.  The  urban  and  social  floor  plan  intenOonally  maximizes  work  engagement.  The  atrium,  for  example,  is  designed  to  be  the  most  social  area,  becoming  gradually  quieter  toward  the  perimeter  window-‐workstaOons.  MeeOng  rooms,  war  rooms,  and  phone  booths  are  strategically  placed  in  between  to  buffer  noise  and  acOvity  from  lounge  and  workstaOon  areas.  Commitment  to  collaboraOon  is  upheld  with  a  clean,  urban  design  for  various  break-‐out  and  gathering  spaces.  The  result  is  a  creaOve,  social  workspace  that  stays  at  the  forefront  of  design  and  innovaOon.      The  Google  brand  is  strong  throughout  the  space,  giving  Googlers  a  meaningful  experience  through  intenOonal  design.

As  one  of  the  last  buildings  to  receive  a  major  upgrade  at  the  Mountain  View  campus,  the  project  held  many  opportuniOes  –  from  unravelling  the  defragmented  layouts  where  Googlers  at  the  same  floor  felt  like  strangers,  to  exposing  the  rich  building  infrastructure  and  connecOng  it  back  to  the  majesOc  redwood  trees  that  the  buildings  are  nestled  within.    A  horizontally  layered  planning  facilitate  interacOon  by  placing  the  most  social  areas  at  the  center  of  the  two  buildings,  and  transiOoning  outward  to  quieter  open  office  workstaOons.    This  created  a  natural  plaza  where  Googlers  gathered,  ate,  played  games,  and  shared  ideas.    All  within  a  daylit  space  with  uninterrupted  views.    A  physics  Omeline  was  developed  to  weave  through  the  two  buildings  and  encourage  Googlers  to  travel  through  each  space  and  discover  important  dates  in  history.    This  was  intersected  and  peppered  with  the  history  of  Art,  Sports  and  ExploraOon,  allowing  Googlers  to  discover  other  significant  events  that  may  have  scienOfic  confluence.  .

The  design  for  Actelion  reinforced  the  global  branding  of  their  Swiss  parent  company  while  expressing  regional  Biotech  roots  and  San  Francisco  Bay  Area  lifestyle.    Central  to  this  is  the  emphasis  of  the  company’s  core  value  of  ‘InnovaOon,  Open  CommunicaOon,  Trust  &  Teamwork,  and  Result  Driven’    The  main  concept  was  inspired  by  Actelion’s  drug  benefit  and  development  -‐    Ossue  membrane  porosity  to  create  open  flow.    This  encouraged  connecOons  between  various  groups  that    were  once  spread  out  in  mulOple  floors.
