Madison’s Transit Precedent
• Madison historically operated a largely self-financing cable based streetcar system.
• The rail-based system covered most heavy commuter regions of Madison.
• The system was removed in the early 1950s.
• The historical precedence represents a good basis for contemporary discussions of Madison’s transport system.
