The Need

• Nursing and nursing faculty shortage

• Unrecognized information needs--resources

• Changing world of technology in education

The Background

• In 2002:

– 170 University of Utah graduates

– 650 new Registered Nurses statewide

• New College of Nursing personnel and goals

• CoN University-wide Web presence

The Plan• Administrators recognized need for assistance

with information and technology

• Created new position--Coordinator of Educational Technologies– Liaison between library and CoN – Assist with technologies and information needs– 0.5 FTE

• Coordinator, Dean, Systems Librarian-- established priorities and approaches

The Results so far• One-on-one instruction – 26 faculty

• Classroom WebCT instruction – 36 individuals attended, 60 total attendance

• Total library instruction for CoN

– 43 classes taught

– 412 attendees

– 61.75 contact hours

The Future

• Follow-up faculty survey after 1 year

• Student evaluations each semester

• Technology for new building

• PDAs and Tablet PCs

• Continually update goals
