Childcare•  Whetherornotyouareteleworking,thenewExpandedFMLAlawallowsyoutoaccesspaidtimeofftotakecareofchildrenwhileschoolsanddaycarefacilitiesareclosed.

•  Ifyouhavechildrenunder18andyoucan’treportforworkorperformteleworkbecauseyoumustcareforthem,younowhaveaccesstoupto12areguaranteed10weeksofpaidleaveunderthelaw,andyoucancoveranadditional2weekswithotherleave.Youcanalsorequesttousethisleaveintermittentlyifyoursupervisorapproves.Forthefirst2weeks(80hours),youwoulduseFederalEmergencyPaidSickLeave(payrollcodeCV)orotheraccruedleave,andfortheremaining10weeks,youwouldusetheExpandedFMLAleave(payrollcodeCVT).Youcanfindtheformtoapplyinworkday-itiscalledFMLAchildcare.

•  Ifyouareatgreaterriskforseriousillness,youcanuseanyaccruedleavetocoveryourabsence,takeleavewithoutpay,useuptofivemonthsofleavetobeaccruedinthefuture(80hrsmax),orrequestdonatedleave.Thefederalgovernment’sCenterforDiseaseControl(CDC)definesthosewhoareatgreaterriskofcomplications(https://bit.ly/thecdcatrisk)

WhathappensifIrunoutofleave?

•  BENEFITSYouwillcontinuetohaveyourhealthinsuranceaslongasyouremainemployedwiththestate.PEBBhasenactedatemporaryruleforthenext6months.Forthisperiodoftime,youdonothavetowork80hourswithinthecurrentmonthtohaveyourhealthcoverageextendedthroughtheendofthefollowingmonth.Youwillcontinuetoberesponsibleforyouremployeeshareofthepremium,evenwhenonleavewithoutpay.Additionally,ifyouhaveoptionalcoverage-suchasaugmentedlifeinsurance,shortorlongtermdisability-youwillberesponsibleforpayingthosepremiums.
