1. Welcome, introductions and appointment of note taker Actions/InformationLynn welcomed all to the meeting and thanked Julie for Well YP’s hospitality and for agreeing to take the notes today.

2. Notes of last meeting and matters arisingThe notes of the last meeting on 29th June were agreed.

NWBH 0-19 service – there has still been no reply to Lynn’s request but someone from the service is due to present at the next Every Child Matters forum so Lynn will ask for some information to circulate to the Network.

30 Days of Sefton in Mind (Steve Gowland) – the campaign is due to start on 10th September and Steve had been concerned that there wasn’t enough VCFS content within the stories and templates received. He has enough content for the first half of the campaign but would like more. Lynn has previously sent Steve’s template out to the Network so if anyone wants to contribute, get the response over to him as soon as possible.

3. Emotional Health and Wellbeing Champions ProjectCaroline and Julie reported that they had delivered the training in one school so far and at the Star Centre to a group of volunteers. They discussed some of the challenges but also how positively it had gone. The young people who were involved were keen to develop this within their school. Caroline and Julie said they were going to have a

follow up session to help them implement the programme. They discussed some of the lessons they had learnt from the pilot and how this was informing the next round of training. Maricourt High has been identified as the next pilot school with the training taking place on the 26th September and 2nd October. They also discussed a follow up event to the participation event in March that will be taking place in the October half term - Tuesday 24th at the Crosby Lakeside.

4. Network MappingAs part of the EH&WB steering group, a head teacher who attends the group requested a mapping exercise of what is on offer in Sefton. Discussion took place regarding how we have already done this exercise and that we also have the Sefton Directory and the VCF Directory. Discussion also took place about the Youth Service web site http://www.seftonyouth.co.uk/ being developed that will have information on that young people can access.

5. Update from Task & Finish GroupsSelf-harm protocol –. Julie Rimmer fed back that the self-harm task and finish group have nearly completed the protocol with a view to this being rolled out to the wider workforce. Lynn discussed a train the trainer model being developed as part of CDOP overview panel and this should be rolled out through the LSCB and the self-harm pathway in the same way. T&F group reconvening on 8th September

Website – Young Advisor still to start work on drafts, which could include the information from the mapping. As soon as that’s done, Lynn will call a meeting of interested people to agree necessary amendments, etc.

6. CYP IAPT (Improving Access to Psychological Therapies)Lorraine gave a brief description of the IAPT principals for some new members. Lorraine discussed how she is currently awaiting confirmation on upcoming training places for the partnership. Lorraine also discussed that the ADHD foundation are currently not as active in the IAPT partnership as they currently do not receive any funding from Sefton.

7. Updates from members and Any Other BusinessVenus - Lorraine discussed how they are changing some of the opening times at the Star Centre and are now planning to run more planned activities rather than running a drop in service. Currently they have the ADHD Foundation running a drop in for parents once a week offering help and advice. Sexual Health Service are also there once a week delivering the C Card and a clinical outreach nurse is there. Well YP are running a skills group for managing anxiety and will be starting a SAP group. There is also an LGBT+ group. See attached for timetable and flyers

MYA Talent Match Your Way - This project is for 16-29 year olds with additional needs. The young people have to be NEET to be involved. The next group will be starting on the 26th September and is a 6 week course 1 day a week. The other days the young people are offered 1-1 support to access services, supporting independence and signposting to education and employment opportunities. It’s 12 weeks of intensive support but they stay open to the service for a year. Referrals come from job centres

through Talent Match but not a lot of young people are attending job centres so they are now working with Connexions to identify possible referrals and they do accept self referrals. See attached for overview and referral form.

SEN & Inclusion Service - Adele discussed how the film is now completed and an app has been developed. Adele discussed how she struggled with funding to launch both but this has now been secured with some partnership funding. A venue is being hired where young people will be in one room and parent in another so they can actually use the app during the event. Parent/carers forum are involved with the launch so it’s not attached to the post. Details will be circulated when received.

Sefton Carers Centre - Discussed parent workshops they are running for sensory processing for children with ASD.

Sexual Health Promotion Service - Speakeasy training is no longer available in Sefton but Sefton Sexual Health Service can provide sex and relationships workshops for parents/carers. Schools have also been contacted to offer staff training and student support for relationships and staying safe workshops.

Brighter Horizons - 17 schools across Merseyside have commissioned the service but they expressed concerns about the summer holidays and how many of the young people who access the service do not have any support. It was agreed that this could be something that could be discussed at the next network meeting.

CORC (Child Outcomes Research Consortium) eLearning Module – CORC, in partnership with the Anna Freud Learning Network, have launched their 1st FREE eLearning module: 'Measuring mental wellbeing to improve the lives of children and young people'. The module aims to increase the awareness, understanding and confidence of non-specialist and school staff who support the wellbeing and mental health of children or young people to access the benefits associated with measuring mental wellbeing. Treatment Endings RoundTables – The Anna Freud Learning Network are holding a series of RoundTables with practitioners (in the voluntary and statutory sectors) and young people to explore approaches to ending mental health treatment in difficult circumstances. The nearest practitioners RoundTable is in Liverpool on 16th November. Lynn will send further details out later today as the deadline for responses is 22nd September.

Whole School Approach to MHEWB - Liverpool CAMHS have conducted a citywide

review of mental health and emotional wellbeing services in schools and produced the attached report. They are now developing a toolkit to enhance the ongoing development of teachers’ skills to support and identify the mental health and emotional wellbeing of children and young people within schools. Lynn will share further information when she has it. See attached.

Bounce Back – the MYA RAISE (Mental Health Promotion) team have developed a card game aimed at exploring resilience with children and young people in a fun and interactive way.
