Cochma

• the Hidden Brain or the subconscious• potential• basic elements of our personality• a place to draw from the subconscious• basic substance of our thoughts and feelings• bedrock upon which we build• primordial spiritual inspiration from which the Cosmos evolved• the root of the four spiritual elements of fire, water, earth and air• the right brain is associated with Cochma, drawing on an intuitive

response; right brain people see problems in an “overview”• the soul of an idea lies within Chochma

Bina

• the key to creating change• takes the old ways of consistently doing things,

changing for the better• on recognition of these habits, Bina takes the creative

spark of reinterpretation and redirects it into a new way of thinking

• changes from fixed responses and repetitive errors• Cochma “fishes” for the “thoughts” and Bina “cooks”

the “fish• in Kabbalah this process is called the insight of the

heart• the left brain is akin to Bina; rational, logical, deductive

and judging – analytical to a fault

FEMININE

Cochma deposits its seed in the womb of Bina, impregnating. The union creates conception, labour and finally the birth of seven children—the 7 Sefirot of Emotion.

Da’at

• Da’at is a spiritual aptitude that flows from the soul• creates the knowing• achieves a balance of wisdom and feeling

2 Aspects of Da’at • Da’at Tachton creates the bond between Mind and Emotion

• allows the Mind to be infused with the energy of the Heart

• draws from excitement in learning and joy in discovery• broadens, deepens and integrates the knowing with

the self• Da’at **Elyon unites Chochma and Bina

• it is superior to Chochma or Bina alone• draws its strength from the Sefira of Keter which is

associated with our higher will• possesses the superior properties of both creativity

and understanding

**Elyon: Hebrew word for Most High. YHWH is called El Elyon and when we pray and call upon that name, Elyon empowers us through drawing on His own omnipotence.
