SEES Leadership Development
At ODU, leadership development fosters exploration and refinement of leadership abilities and preparation to become active
citizens in the world. Participation in these programs offers
students involvement in campus activities and empowers them to be successful in the
roles they assume. The SEES Awards program highlights our
outstanding students who strive for continuous life-long learning and leadership development. SEES has a goal to develop intentional programs across campus that
fosters meaningful connections, challenges and growth. Tonight’s program recognizes students who are involved in the residence halls, fraternity and sorority life, recreation
and wellness, campus employment, and student organizations.

President John R. Broderick and First Lady Kate Broderick established the Evon-Broderick Award for Community Engagement and Service in
honor of their parents’ Ellen Broderick and Joan Evon. The prize will be awarded to a sophomore or junior who has displayed commitment to
service and civic engagement to the university and surrounding community through superior leadership and service. The semi-finalists

Landmark Communications Inc. established the Kaufman Prize to honor Charles L. Kaufman. The prize will be awarded to a graduating

Intercultural Relations Award Promoting a culture that values, engages and respects all individuals is critical to the building of an inclusive community and to the sustained
success for each of its members. The nominees meet one of the following criteria: A member of an organization that joined together with one or more student organizations to create a program that raised the level of attendees' awareness and understanding of an aspect of culture. An
individual who has exemplified the role of a change agent that prompted inclusion within ODU campus or the community.
Community Service Award The Community Service Award recognizes a student or student
