1. December 29, 2010 was the first conference held at the Gateway Health and Wellness Center and the success was measured by the gathering of urban farming enthusiasts from each side of town.

2. The Seeds of Significance ImpactSeeds of Significance aim is to build on existing community activities, not duplicate them. We seek commonalities where neighbors can come together to accomplish goals that serve mutual interests in food justice, healthy community development, and job training.

3. Seeds of Significance official events Seeds of Significance Urban Farming / Gardening Conference II is a city-wide endeavor to attract more participants to the movement while embracing a diversity of perspectives and approaches to change. Participants are members of youth ministries, growers, educators, farmers, chefs, cooks, developers, nutritionists and social service providers.

4. Seek counsel of knowledgeable community members The Seeds of Significance Urban Farming / Gardening Conference II seeks to engage and include the valuable resource of human capital in drawing from community elders and those from rural settings as well as those with a background in agriculture, economic development, nutrition, environmental sustainability, and the like.

5. Educating our community We wish to help community members to become economically empowered by developing

programs that work for our Seeds Of Significance Initiative, e.g.: Teach canning and preserving food or organize raised bed garden construction project.

6. Build a bridge between the community and local government While Seeds of Significance is led by community members, we wish to naturally invite the participation of elected officials and those agencies serving the community through maintaining an active role in the community.

Ultimately, we wish for the Seeds of Significance Urban Farming / Gardening Conference II to result in the implementation of a community-crafted vision. We wish to develop a plan that serves as a 20-year guide to community resilience, restructuring our daycare, community centers, settlement houses and churches to re-educate the family structure based on a balanced ecological system.
