The Academy is a premium professional development course recognized by the global seed industry. It was designed to increase the supply of professional plant breeders. This program develops and enhances the skills of industry personnel around the world to enable them to become independent plant breeders or to contribute to larger breeding programs. Courses are currently being oered in the United States, Europe, and Africa.

Plant Breeding AcademySM Advanced ModuleThe UC Davis Plant Breeding Academy oers the Advanced Module to plant breeders. The course, which includes both lectures and discussions, is designed to review breeding strategies in the context of modern tools, building the necessary background towards the understanding and practical application of BLUPs and genomic selection.

Breeding with GenomicsAimed at professionals who are directly or indirectly involved in plant breeding and germplasm improvement, this course oers an opportunity for breeders who are already using genomic tools to expand their knowledge of new strategies and technologies through a series of lectures and hands-on activities.

Seed Biology and QualityPresenting the scientific background for production, handling, storage and quality control procedures in the seed industry, this two and a half-day course has been updated and is suited for both beginning and experienced seed professionals.

Program Management for Plant BreedersManaging plant breeding and laboratory programs are becoming increasingly complex. This course is designed to enhance management skills of plant breeders and technical leads.
