The Helen Drake Senior Center is
an ac�vity center for seniors and
adults, situated in the heart of
northwest Phoenix. The center is
located north of Orangewood
and 27th Avenue and offers a
variety of programs. Take
advantage of one of the many
FREE classes, search the internet,
borrow a book, shoot some pool
or a-end one of our many field
trips around the City of Phoenix. Your membership includes use of the computer lab or
bring your own device and surf the net using Wi-Fi.
COMPUTERS & WIFI
MEMBERSHIP
The annual membership fee is $20 for Phoenix residents and $40 for
non-residents. Your membership gives you access to any of the 15 Phoenix
senior centers and Parks and Recrea�on community centers. A visitor pass
is available for two FREE visits.
LUNCH
Lunch is served at noon. A suggested contribu�on of $2.50 is requested per
meal. The cost for each meal is $5 for non-members and individuals 59
years old and below. Meal reserva�ons and cancella�ons must be made at
least three days in advance. Morning Snack is served daily at 8:15 a.m.
TEFAP Emergency Food Boxes are distributed on the fourth Monday of
every month at 12:45 p.m.
TRANSPORTATION
MV Transporta�on provides flexible tax service to and from the center for
patrons with valid membership. Please contact Human Services staff to
register for addi�onal detailed informa�on.
CASEWORKER
Service is available to current members bi-monthly, by appointment only.
Make an appointment with staff in person or by calling 602-262-4949 for
addi�onal informa�on.
Chair Exercises is a safe, simple, and effec�ve exercise program suitable for most seniors. The par�cipants in the video are regular ac�ve seniors who are doing these exercises for the first �me.

Chair Yoga is a class aimed to build and develop func�onal strength, flexibility, and balance using various yoga prac�ces and chairs. No class on 2/20 (mid-term break).

ElderGym is a safe, simple, and effec�ve exercise program suitable for most seniors. Seniors in the video are ac�ve seniors doing these exercises for the first �me. Program aims to improve strength, balance, flexibility, and endurance.

Line Dancing is a form of dance that takes place in a group se<ng. Par�cipants line up in rows and execute
the same movements in a synchronized manner. No dance experience required.

Ma=er of Balance Many older adults experience concerns about falling and restrict their ac�vi�es. This class is
an award-winning program designed to manage falls and increase ac�vity levels.

Tai Chi is a class designed to develop body awareness skills through exercise drills, balancing & centering, breathing techniques, flexibility, and strength training. Students will be introduced to the Tai Chi 13 posture form. No Class 2/21 (mid-term break).

Zumba Gold This class is designed for the ac�ve older adult using La�n and Interna�onal rhythms to basic dance

Ceramics Students will learn the proper use and techniques on how to use brushes, stains, and glaze paints. The
course will provide each student the opportunity to create finished pieces of ceramics. Ceramic pieces can be
purchased from the instructor. No class on 11/16 (mid-term break).
