The monthly get together of the SLMC for the month of May2016 was held at the “Vishmithapaya” on 29/05/2016 commencing around 10.00 am. The following Members were present. Rohan Jayasekara, Devsiri Fernando, Terry Amarasekara, Amarasiri Wijesinghe, Asanka K. Pathirana, Chandrasena Gamage, Chenul Perera, Viranga Perera, Dinesh Thangavel, Emil Eranga, Lalith Wickremasinghe, M. K. Wimalasena, Priyantha Gamage, Ranjitha Ratnapala, Sambuddika Rathnayake, A. N. Kumarage, Shelton Jayasekera, Sanjeewa Hewapathirane, Keerthi Weerawardane, Suranjith De Soysa, Thusitha Jayasekera, KAD Pushpakanthi, Wilhelm Perera and Yogitha Anthony. Few guests too were present. Chrisantha Silva, H. D. N. Gunasekera, Nuwan Silva and Ronald De Alwis informed their inability to attend.
The President Rohan welcomed the members and thanked for their participation. He mentioned about the mini contests and encouraged new members to participate in these contests. Thereafter EVP Devsiri gave a description of the projects lined up for the year 2016.
It was the time for the Mini contests. Arrangements had been made to conduct four Mini Contests namely Rope, Coin, Card and Silk on this day. (Report follows). After the contests Sanjeewa Hewapathirana demonstrated “Cut and Restore” trick using a ribbon. The audience was happy to learn this valuable trick. In future the members will have the opportunity to learn at least one trick at the monthly gathering.
The treat for the day was sponsored by the parents of Chenul Perera who’s birthday fell in May. The proceedings of another interesting day came to an end around 12.30 pm.

සය ටදටනකු ඒ සඳහා ඉදිරිපත් විය. ඒ සම්බුද්ධික රත්නායක , කීර්ති වීරවර්ධන, විහන් ටපටර්රා, ටෙනුල් ටපටර්රා , ටක්.ඒ.ඩි.පුෂ්පකාන්ති සහ ටයෝගීතා ඇන්තනී යන අයයි. ෙන්ද්රනටසනන ගමටේ, ලලිත් වික්රරමිංහහ සහ ්රි යන්ත ගමටේ යන පුපුරු මැජික් ශිල්පීන් විනිසුරු මඩුල්ලෙ අයත් විය.

සහගමය මගින් ටනොමිටුන පවත්වනු ලබන පුහුණු කිරීම් සඳහා සහභාගී වූ සාමාජිකයන් වැඩි දක්ෂතාවක් ටපන්නුම් කරන ලදී. තරඟ නරඹන සාමාජිකත්වය තරඟ කරුවන් දිරිමත් කිරීටම්දී මන්දගාමී ස්වභාවයක් දක්වන ලද බව දැනුණි. ඉදිරි තරඟ වලදී නරඹන සාමාජිකයින් විිංන් තරඟ කරුවන් මීෙ වඩා උද්ටයෝගිමත් කරනු ඇතැයි බලාටපොටරොත්තු ටවමු. ිංයළුම තරඟ කරුවන් පුහුණුවීම් සඳහා වැඩි උනන් වක් දක්වන්ටන්නම් නරඹන්නන් ටවත වඩා විටනොදශ්වාදයක් ලබා දීමෙ හැකිටේ යයි ිංතමි.
ටමම තරඟ සාර්ථක කර ගැනීමෙ සහය න් සභාපති ඇතුළු නිලධාරී මණ්ඩලයෙත්, සාමාජිකයන්ෙත් මටේ ටගෞරවනීය ස්තුතිය ටමයින් පුදකරමි. ටමවර තරඟ සඳහා ජය සහටක්ත පරිතාාග කිරීටමන් අනුරතහය දක්වන ලද්ටද් “E&S Magicians” හි මැජික් ශිල්පීන් වන එමිල් එරහග සහ අසහක පතිරණ ටදපලයි. අපටේ විටශනෂ ස්තුතිය ඔවුන් ටවත හිමිටේ.
‘Donavan Andree Challenge Trophy’ - ‘Young Magician - 2016’ ‘Linden De Alwis Challenge Trophy’ - ‘Amateur Magician -2016’ These contests are scheduled to be held on Sunday 31st July 2016. The Fantastic Four superhero has been brought into the real world thanks to an extreme magician determined to push his tricks further than anyone else. The Fantastic Four superhero comes to life in the form of extreme magician Adam Wilber, from New Hampshire, USA. Daredevil Adam invented a nifty device which makes it looks like he's shooting fireballs straight out of his hands, just like the superhero - but in fact it's a mystical magic trick .Adam invented the incredible device from scratch, and now uses the amazing trick to leave baffled onlookers in awe of his apparent superhero powers.
Adam, 35, said: "I've been into magic since I was six."I came up with this idea after playing around with some flash paper - I was sitting in my living room playing with an old gimmick that was made to shoot a single fireball out of a copper tube."While I was playing with it - and after setting my smoke alarm off for the hundredth time - I realized it could be a cool trick. "The science behind it is fairly simple - the load is made by something called flash paper, which is a very lightweight paper that is soaked in a chemical, which burns very bright and very fast."When you light flash paper it ignites very quickly and burns into nothing, leaving no trace of the paper."If you then load it into a tube with only one exit point, you have pyro. "Pyro is essentially tubes that are closed off at one end - the closed end has a glow plug in it, so it can ignite the flash paper from inside the tube.”Once the paper is loaded it's pushed down until it contacts the glow plus, and you're good to go."You trigger the remote which then turns on the glow plug, igniting the flash papers inside the barrel. "Because there is only one opening for the energy to escape from, you get a fireball shooting out of the barrel in a magnificent form."The reactions have been amazing - it's been overwhelmingly heartfelt and positive, everyone loves it."One time I had to explain to the TSA why I was carrying three 'fireball shooters' with me on a cross-country flight - I ended up doing a 30 minute magic show to demonstrate that they were props. "It's a professional pyrotechnic device that should be used by adults only - effectively it launches fireballs from your apparently empty hands, so there is absolutely an inherent danger to it."With that said, it is very safe when used properly and designed in such a way that you'd need to make a real effort to hurt yourself or someone else."

රාත්රියගේ ද අසංක මුහුණ දුන්ගන්ද කිසිගසේත් බලාගපොගරොත්තු ගනොවූ තත්වයකටය. තම බිරිඳ , දියණිය ඇතුළු පවුගල් අයගේ
ජිවිත ආරක්ෂාව ගවනුගවන් ඔවුන්ද රැගගන තම නිවස අතහැර ආරක්ෂි්ත ස්ථානයක් ගසොයා යාගම් අපහසු රණරණය ගැමටමට
අසංකට සිදුවිය.
වාසනාව ගහෝ ගපර පින් බලය ගහෝ ගදවියන්ගේ මදීමය ගහෝ නිසා ඔවුන් ගදගදනාටම බලවත් හානි වලින් ගතොරව යලිත් තම

The legendary humanitarian, ‘The Greatest of All’, Muhammed
Ali passed away on 3rd June 2016 at the age of 74. Professionally he was the No.1 boxer of the last
centenary, also dubbed as the ‘Sportsman of the 20th century’.
It was somewhat a lesser known fact that Ali was an amateur magician as well. Magic lover Ali used to visit conventions and acquired a repertoire of magic tricks. He used to entertain kids and the public whenever he got an opportunity.
One of his favorite impromptu tricks was the ‘Balducci Levitation’. No doubt; with his extra strong toes and calf muscles, it would have been an easy feat for him. He would turn his back to his audience, put his heels together, and suddenly float off the ground, hovering several inches above the carpet. His performance was so good that even David Copperfield called it “classic.” Ali used these tricks to show people how easily their senses could be fooled.
