Parrtjima is the only First Nations festival of its kind, showcasing some of the oldest continuous cultures on earth through the latest technology.

During the 10 night program, experience interactive workshops*, talks, films and live music** across two event precincts (Alice Springs Desert Park and Todd Mall) bringing together the stories, sounds and rhythms of Central Australia. The event is held in Alice Springs, Mparntwe, an area that always was and always will be part of the Arrernte people.

As well as Arrernte art, the festival features incredible work from across the Western and Central Desert regions and other parts of the Northern Territory.

This image is a small selection of faces celebrating the wide network of traditional custodians, Arrernte artists and the coming generations.

SEE OURCULTURESIN A NEW LIGHT

Parrtjima is held on Mparntwe. Mparntwe is connected to the estates of Antulye and Irlpme and to a network of Arrernte custodians who hold rights and responsibilities for these areas. A group of Arrernte people choose to help guide and create Parrtjima, and want you to feel welcome as they host this event.

FESTIVAL BUS LOOPThe easiest way to get to Parrtjima is by taking one of our free buses. Bus stops are located at both festival precincts, as well as around Alice Springs CBD and some of the popular hotel precincts. See website for full timetable – parrtjimaaustralia. com.au/transport

PARKINGThere is no public car parking accessible at the Parrtjima Desert Park precinct. However, more capacity is available at the Park’n’Ride locations throughout Alice Springs. From these locations, you can catch a shuttle bus that operates on a 20 minute loop, or walk along the shared bike and walking path from Albrecht Oval to the Parrtjima site (approx. 900 metres).
