At G4S, we know that Veterans and returning Service Members bring unique skills and experiences with them. The training, work ethic and goal-oriented culture of the military are ideal fits for our organization. Veterans come to us already possessing key leadership, management and teamwork skills that ideally prepare them to succeed with G4S. We know veterans in our organization have a significantly lower turnover rate than their peers, are promoted faster and stay with G4S longer.

Our commitment to hiring veterans is more than saying we are “veteran friendly”. We understand having a best-in-class veteran hiring program requires having a team of specialists solely focused on building veteran talent pipelines and driving hires, and that having the right team is key. Our veteran hiring team consists of individuals with prior military recruiting backgrounds to ensure they can “speak the language” and appropriately translate military branches, ranks, occupations, experience, skill sets and cultures to attract, hire, and retain qualified veterans.

To become best-in-class, we have developed partnerships with local, regional and national organizations including:

• U.S. Army’s Partnership for Youth Success (PaYS) program• U.S. Chamber of Commerce - Hiring Our Heroes • White House – Joining Forces Campaign• Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) Program

G4S is committed to connecting with soldiers while they are still in the service. Our goal is to be their employer of choice as they prepare to transition out of the military and into civilian life. The Army PaYs program provides a unique opportunity for soldiers to simultaneously serve their country while preparing for their future. As a PaYs partner, G4S guarantees soldiers an interview and possible employment after the Army, assuring a flow of quality employment candidates who have established a proven work ethic, have honorably served or are currently serving their country.

Key to our outreach program is participation at military career fairs at bases across the country. In 2015, G4S visited 26 military bases and participated in more than 100 military hiring events where we showcase job opportunities along with the benefits of joining G4S. We participate in job fairs sponsored by RecruitMilitary, a nationwide, full-service military-to-civilian recruiting firm and connect with transitioning and former military personnel through Corporate Gray, an organization that supports veterans with military-to-civilian career transition books, military-friendly job fairs and online support. Our military recruiting team works to maintain relationships with the Transition Assistance Offices at the military bases and provided an ongoing listing of job opportunities available at our corporate headquarters and 110 offices nationwide.

G4S’s award-winning online career center allows transitioning veterans to begin exploring career opportunities while still deployed. Our career center provides a place to learn more about G4S, begin the application process, upload a resume and search for positions by geography, skill set or title. We understand today’s veterans are active on social media; connecting with each other as well as veteran organizations. Our online recruiting includes groups on LinkedIn, Facebook, YouTube, Twitter and others providing 24/7 access to career information.

Transitioning Service Members

Recruitment of transitioning service members is accomplished by either direct contact at a Military Base Job Fair or through working with the Transition Assistance Managers at U.S. Military Bases throughout the United States (CONUS) as well as overseas Military Bases (OCONUS). Job announcements are posted in the Transition Assistance offices at Military bases as well as distributed to transitioning service members during the Transition Assistance Program (TAP) classes that each transitioning service member is required to attend.

Working through the Hired 2 Heroes employment coordinators for each state, G4S provides listings of job openings and attends Job Fairs, Yellow Ribbon events, Family Day and Drill weekends held by the National Guard to distribute materials and promote employment with G4S. We provide flexible employment opportunities in support of continued National Guard service and have been recognized by the Department of Defense and its Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) Program.

Army: Working with 43 ACES (Army Career Employment Specialists) and 13 TELs (Transition Employment Liaisons) located at major Army Installations across the U.S., G4S provides job listings through the Army Private Public Partnership Office. We work with both transitioning service members and Reservists for job placement and attend Job Fairs and recruiting events.

Marine Corps, Navy and Air Force: The ESGR Reserve Component Liaison located at each respective Reserve Headquarters coordinates recruitment efforts for the respective branches and serves as a the liaison for the military recruiting team, providing job placement services and distributing information on G4S.

Coast Guard: The Work Life Program Manager located at the Coast Guard Reserve Headquarters in Washington, D.C. coordinates the distribution of G4S material and job opening to the Coast Guard Reserve Centers.

G4S supports a broad range of efforts that provides veterans with opportunities to build professional networks and find a home with G4S. We work closely with the more than 3,000 America Job Centers located nationwide that are dedicated to partnering employers with job seekers. State Veteran Representatives, both DVOPs (Disabled Veterans Outreach Program Specialists) and LVERS (Local Veterans Employment Representatives), have offices within each of these Centers and have the primary responsibility of placing Veterans seeking employment with Veteran-Friendly Employers. Our military recruitment experts connect the DVOPS and LVERs with G4S’s list of current openings and will often meet with groups at the center to discuss openings and the procedure to apply for these positions. We provide Veteran specific recruiting material, handouts, and information to be utilized in recruiting efforts in addition to the online veteran resources available at http://usajobs.g4s.com/military-veterans.

Our recruiting team works with multiple local and national veteran’s organizations such as Marine For Life, Veterans2Work, VA Vet Centers, etc., as well as participating serving on the State Executive Committee for Florida Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR).

Ongoing Support Our commitment to veteran employees continues throughout their employment with G4S. We provide several online support groups through our G4S Career Center, including a Military Veterans Community as well as a group for Military Spouses and Families. Each community is uniquely designed to provide support and assistance to veterans and their families as they transition back to civilian life. The communities include an all-volunteer mentoring network and discussion threads that allow group members to share information and feedback. Additionally, our recruiting teams engage those interested in pursuing job and/or promotion opportunities with G4S, expediting the process for military veterans and their families.

Understanding a large portion of our employee base continue their service as members of the National Guard or Reserves, G4S created G4S Safety Net, comprised of personnel from G4S Corporate Headquarters, our nine regional offices and 110 local field offices dedicated to providing assistance to families of G4S employees who have been deployed. Year-to-date, the team has provided assistance to 75 G4S service members during their deployments.
