THE FOUNDATION YEAR
The University of Queensland Foundation Year program prepares international students for entry into the first year of all undergraduate courses at UQ.
As the education provider offering this exclusive program, International Education Services (IES) enrols students from more than 40 countries.
Graduates enter all faculties of UQ including Arts; Sciences (including Veterinary Science); Business Economics and Law; Engineering, Architecture and IT; Health Sciences; Social and Behavioural Sciences.

GUARANTEED PLACE AT THE UNIVERSITY OF QUEENSLAND
Students who achieve the specified standards are guaranteed a place in the first year of all undergraduate programs at UQ. In addition all students who achieve a GPA of 4.0 or higher receive the 30954QLD Certificate IV in University Preparation allowing them to apply to any Australian university.
SCHOLARSHIPS
UQ Undergraduate Scholarships are available for Foundation Year graduates pursuing study in selected undergraduate programs at UQ. They are awarded on academic merit and open to all students enrolled in the Foundation Year.
Scholarships are available in the disciplines of Arts, Economics, IT & Electrical Engineering, Social and Behavioural Sciences, Nursing/Midwifery and Pharmacy (bursary).

THE FOUNDATION YEAR PROGRAM
Foundation Year students undertake English language instruction, acquire the necessary skills for tertiary study in Australia, and have access to UQ’s modern facilities. Students select five academic subjects, including Academic English for University Studies and Mathematics with electives in Biology, Physics, Chemistry, Economics, Accounting, Business Management, Information Technology, Behavioural Science, Research and Architecture. Students receive a high standard of instruction from experienced and qualified teachers and helpful tutors.
Students are welcomed into a family atmosphere and encouraged to participate in an extensive student recreational program. The alumni network builds friendships and ensures students have fun and enjoy their time studying in Australia.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Entry to the Foundation Year is determined by English language proficiency and academic performance.

• English language proficiency of IELTS 5.0 (minimum for Standard PLUS Program) – Pre-entry English language courses in Australia can be arranged for applicants who do not meet the required level of proficiency.
