During the last decade, public bike-sharing systems have gained momentum and popularity. Many citiesworldwide have put their trust in bike-sharing to promote bicycle use and move towards more sustainablemobility. This paper presents a parsimonious model from which to derive the optimal strategical designvariables for bike-sharing systems.

With the rapid growth of large-scale cities and the reinforcement of environmental concepts and sustainability, the sharing economy has received increasing attention. The maximum coverage location problem (MCLP),which is the basis of many sharing economy models, aims to cover more customers with a specified number ofcenters and radii.

The expected increase in the number of electric vehicles (EVs) in thecoming years will contribute to reducing CO2 pollution in our cities.Currently, EVs' users may suffer from distress due to long charging servicetimes and overloaded charging stations (CSs). Critical traffic conditions(e.g., traffic jams) affect EVs' trip time (TT) towards CSs and thus influencethe total trip duration.

Publicada el 23/09/2019
Traffic congestion on motorways is a serious threat for the economic and social life of modern society as wellas for the environment, which calls for drastic and radical solutions. Conventional traffic managementmeasures, currently applied, are valuable, but face limitations. During the last decades, a variety of vehicleautomation and communication systems (VACS) have been developed and deployed, and many more areexpected to appear in the near future.

Modeling congestion effects arising from multiple travel modes, sharedmobility modes in particular, is non-trivial because of the complexinteractions among diverse agents and distinct traffic flow compositions. This research aims to provide a theoretical framework of generic trafficnetwork equilibria to unify these services and hopefully become a stepstone to modeling shared mobility services in congested road network.

In recent years, as a policy to increase penetration of electric vehicles andreduce air pollution, the number of electric taxis has increased in thetransportation networks. In contrast to private electric vehicles, electrictaxis need to recharge in a short time due to their constant operation anddifferent driving patterns. Therefore, fast charging stations are required tomeet the demand for recharging electric taxis and should be located atstrategic places.

The damaging effects of cyberattacks to an industry like the Cooperative Connected and Automated Mobility(CCAM) can be tremendous. From the least important to the worst ones, one can mention for example thedamage in the reputation of vehicle manufacturers, the increased denial of customers to adopt CCAM, the lossof working hours (having direct impact on the European GDP), material damages, increased environmentalpollution due e.g., to traffic jams or malicious modifications in sensors’ firmware, and ultimately, the greatdanger for human lives, either they are drivers, passengers or pedestrians.
