Carmel-by-the-Sea: Report of a citizen complaint involvinga barking dog on Forest. The reporting party stated that barkingwas heard today and on previous occasions. The main issue wasthe barking during the early morning hours. There was no bark-ing upon the officer’s arrival. The officer contacted the owner ofthe dog and information was provided. A dog license will beobtained and a warning was given.

Carmel-by-the-Sea: Units heard a dog in distress from a res-idence on San Carlos Street. After contacting the owner of theresidence, it was discovered a raccoon had entered the garagewhere the dog was sleeping. The dog and the raccoon engagedin a disagreement about the ownership of food in the garage. Theowner of the dog was counseled about possible injury to the dogand what precautions he should take. Incident will be forwarded

to animal control for possible follow up.Carmel-by-the-Sea: Units responded to a report of a dog hit

by a vehicle on Ridgewood. The reporting party updated dis-patch stating that the dog was not hit or injured. Police officerand animal control officer arrived, and the dog was transportedto the department by the police officer. The owner’s informationwas obtained from the dog tag. The owner was notified and laterarrived to claim her dog. There was one prior contact on record.All fees were paid and a warning was given. The dog wasreleased.

Carmel-by-the-Sea: Suspicious circumstances on Junipero

Street. Reporting party stated that he received a series of textmessages. The sender was unfamiliar to him. The RP was coun-seled and options were discussed in such situations. No furtheraction at this juncture.

Carmel-by-the-Sea: Fire engine and ambulance respondedto a fire alarm activation on Mission south of Ocean at a restau-rant. Upon arrival, firefighters discovered the smell of smokeand saw smoke coming from the rear of the restaurant. Theowner was outside of the front door and told firefighters the

smoke was due to a stock pot left on the stovetoo long. A blower was activated to remove thesmoke and thermal imaging camera was usedto check for any possible hidden problems. Atthis point the smoke was removed, the alarmreset and the property secured.

Carmel-by-the-Sea: Fire engine and ambu-lance responded to a medical emergency at thepost office. Firefighters assisted ambulancepersonnel with patient assessment, packagingand gathering information on a female whowas experiencing pain to her left hip secondaryto a fall. The patient was transported toCHOMP by the ambulance. Police officers alsoresponded to take a report of a fall on city prop-erty.

Carmel-by-the-Sea: Fire engine, ambu-lance and Cypress Fire engine responded to afire alarm activation at Flanders Mansion.

Engine backed up Cypress engine, which wasalready on scene investigating, with nothingshowing. The alarm showed a system trouble inZone 5, so the alarm was silenced. A secondarysearch of the property again showed no fireproblem. All units returned to quarters and amessage was left with the alarm company toinspect the system.

Carmel Valley: Husband and wife at TierraGrande/Via Cicindela had verbal domestic dis-pute.

Pebble Beach: Resident reported that hergrandson was out of control and throwingthings around the house.

TUESDAY, OCTOBER 30

assessment, packaging and gathering informa-tion on a male in his 40s who was experiencingpossible anxiety. The patient was transported toCHOMP.

Carmel-by-the-Sea: Fire engine and ambu-lance responded to a medical emergency onDolores Street. On scene, crew assisted withvitals, EKG, patient report information andloading for a female in her 70s with syncope.Patient transported to CHOMP by ambulance.

Carmel Valley: Complaint of loud pumpthat was found to be a permitted well test.

Carmel Valley: Person reported six juve-niles entered the locked area of a transfer sta-tion and heard the sounds of breaking glass.Area check was made, nothing seen.Responsible was not available.

Carmel Valley: A sealed letter was found atthe community field office in the village.When contacted, the author advised it was forinformation only.

Pebble Beach: Report of an open door tothe residence. House checked and nothingappeared disturbed. House was secured on

deputies’ exit.Carmel Valley: Resident reported a land-

lord/tenant dispute.Carmel Valley: Victim reported a theft of

her vehicle registration card from its glovebox.

HALLOWEEN

Carmel-by-the-Sea: A citizen reportedseeing what was believed to be a mountain lionin his yard on Mission Street between 0500 and0530 hours on Tuesday, Oct. 29. While walkingoutside, he first heard the sound of somethingwalking on the dried leaves and shined hisflashlight toward the direction of the sound.The reporting party was approximately 25 to30 feet away and noted the animal’ s smoothbrown coat, long legs, and estimated the weightto be 35 to 40 pounds. The animal was on alarge tree limb and then jumped over the fencealong Mission Street. The RP stated that deadraccoons have been found in the area. Atapproximately 1715 hours, the officer made acheck of the yard and found no evidence except

Carmel Valley: A wallet with contents was found on top ofthe gas pump at Kasey’s on Carmel Valley Road in the Village.The wallet contained identification and was placed in the evi-dence locker for safekeeping until it is returned to the owner.

THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 1

Carmel-by-the-Sea: Report of a vandalized vehicle onMonte Verde Street near Fifth Avenue. A large rock was thrownthrough the rear window. Upon investigating further, officersfound four additional victims on Monte Verde Street with simi-lar damage.

Carmel-by-the-Sea: The owner of the vehicle parked atMonte Verde and Ninth reported damage to the front hood of her

vehicle. The damage appeared to have been caused by rocksfrom other vehicles on the roadway. The owner was advised tofile a claim with her insurance company.
