Carmel-by-the-Sea: A citizen reportedseeing a male citizen with two dogs. She hadconcerns about the dogs’ temperament on ornear the beach. Person said there was a previ-ous contact in the past week of aggressivebehavior by one of the dogs. Both parties werecontacted and their concerns discussed. Noviolation seen during contact. Definitions ofCMC 6.08.070 and 6.08.050 discussed with thedog owner.

Carmel Valley: A fence post in LambertFlats was cut down. Neighbor admitted cuttingit down. The victims did not wish to prosecute

Carmel-by-the-Sea: Person on SanCarlos reported being harassed by an ex-friend. The person has not had direct con-tact, but the other party is using other peo-ple to do this. He asked the subject to leavehim alone but she still talks to his friends. Herelayed she has not made any threats towardhim but it is annoying. Officer gave himinformation and advice pertaining torestraining orders, and he stated he wouldlook into them. Information only at thistime.

Carmel-by-the-Sea: A Mission Street resi-dent called to report some minor damage to herside-view mirror. She said she parked her vehi-cle across from her home for five or six hours,and when she came back, her side-view mirrorglass was chipped. It is unknown what causedthe damage, but she wished to inform police ofthe occurrence. There were no witnesses to theevent. Person wished to remain anonymous.

Carmel-by-the-Sea: Unattended pursefound on Dolores Street in the business districtand brought to CPD for safekeeping. Ownerarrived at CPD at 2140 hours; propertyreturned to owner.

Carmel-by-the-Sea: Afemale in her 70s went to thefire station to report “not feel-ing well” and was experienc-ing weakness and low bloodpressure. She had a dialysissession earlier in the day andwas not feeling well and hadpoor appetite the day before.Provided patient assessment,diagnostics, oxygen adminis-tration, packaging and gather-ing information. Ambulancetransported person toCHOMP.

the suspect. The incident was documented.Carmel area: Suspicious persons reported

at 14th Avenue and Carmelo Street. Victimthought that the residence was being burglar-ized. Upon further investigations, the twomales at the residence were gardeners and hadpermission to be there.

Carmel Valley: A Carmel Valley residentreported someone entered her locked vehiclewhile it was parked on Garzas Road, setting offthe alarm. Items inside the vehicle were movedbut not taken.

WEDNESDAY, JULY 22

Carmel-by-the-Sea: A citizen’s vehiclewas reported parked in the same location onSan Carlos Street for five days without moving.This vehicle was normally moved; therefore, awelfare check was made with the vehicleowner. Vehicle owner found to be OK, and thevehicle was moved.

Carmel-by-the-Sea: Solicitors were con-tacted at Santa Rita and Second, and found tonot possess any documents supporting theirnonprofit status for requesting donations tosupport the Fund for the PublicInterest/Environment California. Informationwas provided on how to forward the nonprofitstatus information to the Carmel PoliceDepartment. The solicitors agreed to delay anyfurther solicitations until they obtained and for-warded the appropriate documentation to theCarmel Police Department.

Carmel-by-the-Sea: Fire engine dis-patched to Junipero and 11th for a water prob-lem at a residence.

THURSDAY, JULY 23

Carmel-by-the-Sea: Citizen reported bark-ing dogs in the backyard of the residence locat-ed at Torres south of Mountain View. Citizenstated the dogs had been barking since 0600hours. Citizen has attempted to resolve the sit-uation with the dog owner in the past with nosuccess, as this has been an ongoing problemfor two years. Citizen still wanted to try andresolve the situation without issuing a citationand requested that contact be made with theowner of the dogs. Attempted to contact ownerwith negative results. Located two small dogsinside residence and two dogs located in back-yard. Further attempts will be made to contactthe owner.

Carmel-by-the-Sea: A citizen reported adog loose in the residential area of Lobos.Officer responded and transported the dog tothe Carmel Police Department for safekeepinguntil the owner could be found. The owner waslocated and came to the department to retrievethe dog. A warning was given, and kennel feeswere paid.

Carmel-by-the-Sea: Fire was reported inarea of Mission Trail Park near FlandersMansion. Fire engine dispatched to a fire seenfrom the area of Crespi and Flanders. Enginecrew met with the reporting party, and the loca-tion was determined to be in an area on the east

Carmel PD units located the fireapproximately 300 feet north of the Flanders Mansion driveway,where engine crew deployed 150 feet of attack line to a spot fireof 20 feet by 20 feet in size but with a slow rate of spread. Thefire was contained at 2200 hours, and with the assistance of aCal Fire engine, mop up was completed and the fire declaredcontrolled at 2240 hours.

Carmel-by-the-Sea: Fire engine and ambulance dispatchedto a residence on Torres Street for an elderly male in cardiacarrest. Crew assisted with AutoPulse and advanced life support.Patient transported to CHOMP Code 3 by ambulance.

Carmel area: Someone took a camera after the owner mis-takenly left it at a restaurant.

FRIDAY, JULY 24

Carmel-by-the-Sea: An employee of Professional PropertyMaintenance reported graffiti inside the restrooms at Forest HillPark.

Carmel-by-the-Sea: A loose dog was found on First Avenueand later returned to the owner at the Carmel Police Department.Kennel fees paid and a warning issued.

Carmel-by-the-Sea: Citizen on Lopez reported a residentialburglary that occurred sometime between July 10 and July 24.

Carmel-by-the-Sea: A citizen on Torres responded to CPDto report receiving a letter from a neighbor complaining aboutbarking dogs being kept at his residence. Citizen advised hisspouse was caring for two golden retrievers for a friend travelingin Europe. Citizen advised his spouse was currently in LosAngles and he would ask her to contact the animal control offi-cer upon her return to try and resolve the barking-dog issue withthe neighbors.

Carmel-by-the-Sea: Person called to report losing her hus-band’s wedding band somewhere on Carmel Beach. Personwanted to report the incident in the event the ring was found andturned in to the police department. A brief description of the ringwas provided. Nothing further.

Carmel-by-the-Sea: Suspicious person seen in the drivewaylocated at Sixth and Santa Rita. A neighbor called Carmel P.D.advising a male approximately 40 years old with black hair,wearing a dark brown suede jacket standing in a neighbor’s dri-

veway. Subject appeared to be coming from the garage and madeeye contact with neighbor. Subject waved, got on his cellularphone and walked “briskly” west on Sixth Avenue. Owner ofresidence contacted and noticed nothing disturbed and statedgarage was empty due to being painted previous day. Ownerrequested periodic checks of residence during evening hours dueto the large amount of construction equipment in yard.

Carmel-by-the-Sea: Responded to a welfare check on a sub-ject at Rio Road and Highway 1 in Safeway after MCSO locat-ed him. Subject said he had an argument with family membersearlier in the evening and was depressed. Subject stated he didnot want to hurt himself or others and did not want to seek men-tal health assistance. Subject was transported to his residencewithout further incident.

Carmel-by-the-Sea: Fire engine dispatched to Scenic and13th at the request of Carmel P.D. for a possible hazardous con-dition involving a reported large bonfire on the beach. Crewmade contact with the parties involved and advised of the beachfire code and not to make the fire any larger. Followed up withCPD and advised of contact and code notification.

Carmel-by-the-Sea: Walk-in medical emergency at the firestation on Sixth Avenue. Crews performed patient assessmentfor a male in his 40s with light headiness. Patient transported toCHOMP by ambulance.

Carmel-by-the-Sea: Fire engine and ambulance dispatchedto a hotel on Mission Street for a female in her 80s who suffereda mechanical fall and sustained a laceration to the back of thehead. Patient placed in full c-spine and transported to CHOMPby ambulance.

Carmel Valley: Person at Via Mallorca and Carmel ValleyRoad reported he was receiving threats through a second party.It was determined no threats were made.

Carmel Valley: Several people were involved in a bar fight.

SATURDAY, JULY 25

Carmel-by-the-Sea: A county resident reported seeing acoyote in his yard which is contiguous to Mission Trail park. Thecoyote was seen hanging around the yard and approximately 10feet from the residence. No aggressive behavior seen.Information about coyotes was discussed with the person. Thecoyote has been seen in the yard on several other days. On onesighting, the coyote was seen chasing the resident’s domestic cat.Officer contacted fish and game about the sighting.

Carmel-by-the-Sea: Citizen reported being harassed by hisex-wife over tax matters from the past while conducting an openhouse in the area of Dolores and First. Citizen only wanted the

incident documented in the event the harassment continues andhe elects to obtain some type of protective order. Telephoniccontact made with ex-wife, who admitted to contacting thereporting party at Dolores and First. Ex-wife agreed to utilize anattorney and the court system to resolve the tax situationbetween her and the reporting party over their finalized divorce.

Carmel-by-the-Sea: Petty theft reported on Lincoln Street.Carmel-by-the-Sea: Fire engine and ambulance dispatched

to a residential complex on Junipero Street. Arrived on scene tofind a male in his 80s experiencing general weakness due to apossible syncopal episode. Provided patient assessment, diag-nostics, oxygen administration, packaging and gathering infor-mation, and ambulance transported the patient to CHOMP.

Carmel-by-the-Sea: Fire engine and ambulance dispatchedto a business on Ocean between San Carlos and Dolores for heatfrom a short circuit (wiring), defective/worn; sparks on the roof.Arrived on scene with nothing showing, but a strong smell ofelectrical burn. San Carlos Command established with firefight-ers from the engine and ambulance entering the building androof to search for a source. It was discovered a fan in an upstairsoffice may have shorted out. Fan unplugged and power source tothis area of the building shut down. Conducted further searchesfor other problems using thermal imaging camera. Additionalengines from Cypress and Carmel Valley were also dispatched.

Carmel-by-the-Sea: Fire engine and ambulance dispatchedto a residence on Carpenter Street for a male in his 50s com-plaining of chest pain. Patient refused transportation to CHOMPand signed a medical release with attending paramedic.
