Last Section Meeting At our last meeting, George Rolla, Section Chairman, gave us an overview of the AWS D1.1 Codebook, pointing out important features of the code, especially for those who will be taking the CWI and the L.A City Certified Welder exams. The audience was very attentive and many questions were asked, making it for a very interactive meeting. If you missed the meeting, here are some helpful tips in regards to using the codebook:
- Avoid making the common mistake of not reading the title of the tables. Always SLOW DOWN, read the title of the table or figures you are looking at before jumping into it. Always start reading tables and figures from the top; do not jump all over the place.
- Always read the footnotes. They are just as important as the contents of the tables and figures. A lot of times, the answers are in the footnotes.
- Know your table of contents inside out. Always refer back to the table of contents. Avoid flipping pages when you think you know where the information is; that is a waste of valuable time.
- Search for keywords in the index, especially when you are not sure in what clause the answer might be.
Winners of all the raffle prizes:
