Why Are Global Effects Important?

• Roughly 75 percent of the world’s people live in developing nations.

• Global efforts provide services and funding to developing nations that might not otherwise have the resources to make their public health programs succeed.

• The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) focuses on programs that aid children, such as immunization programs, day-care and health centers, and school food programs. UNICEF also runs training programs for nurses and teachers.
