Only prints already covered by prior submission of entry form and fees will be accepted. If you are unable to bring your prints in on the Tuesday you may submit them along with your form and entry fees as described above, or post them to the Show Office in time for the 3rd September deadline. The Society, its volunteers and agents will not be liable for any loss or damage to these exhibits.
Exhibits cannot be removed from display during the show.
Exhibits must be collected on Sunday 8th September between 8.30am and 10.30am.
Non local entrants are advised to supply a self addressed, stamped envelope for return of prints.
All exhibits not collected will be disposed of unless prior arrangements have been made.
CONDITIONS OF ENTRY
Prints are to be sandwiched between stiff backing and a stiff border. See video "Beaudesert Show Photography Promo" on web site or YouTube.
The photographer's name, address, phone number and class number of the exhibit must appear on the back of each entry. To ensure anonymity during judging, no signature or name should appear on the front of the print. (Framed prints excepted). If your photo has a title this may appear on the front if you wish.
So that the viewing public can see who took the photo, regardless of whether it has won a prize, you need to type your name in size 20, bold font, on normal typing paper. Cut it to size and affix it to the bottom of the mount at the back, so that the name protrudes from the bottom, but can be folded back out of sight
during judging.
Attach hooked Velcro to the back of the mount in each corner to hold your
entry securely to the carpeted display board. Framed prints must be fitted with string or wire for hanging.
All photographs must be original works of the exhibitor.
No Exhibit is eligible to compete if it has won a prize at any previous show of this society.
All care will be taken, but no liability will be accepted by any officer, or the society, in the unlikely event of loss or damage to exhibits.
Due to limited space there is a limit of 7 entries per person in "Open" & "Junior" sections, plus 2 entries in "Framed Prints" section (a total of 9 entries).
ADDITIONAL ADVICE The atmosphere in the Show Pavilion takes a punishing toll on the mountings. Approximately 3% of prints fall on the floor within a few hours of being put on display. Many more buckle & curl up. Please use only good quality Velcro. For mounting, do not use double-sided tape. Seek professional advice on this, or
have the photos professionally mounted. Also see Q & A section for affordable option. Your photos will be viewed by approximately 6,000 people, so it's worth presenting them well. WHAT THE JUDGES LOOK FOR Over the years, these are the qualities judges have looked for in choosing winning entries. Note: This is a guide only. Individual judges may vary in their bias towards certain criteria. VISUAL APPEAL: Colour, lighting, composition, special effects, tonal range, definition and clarity. (Artistic, dramatic, pleasing, accurate - as appropriate) CONTENT: Subject has intrinsic interest to the general public, or has recognizable, significant meaning as portrayed. ORIGINALITY: Fresh ideas, interpretations, wit, sensitivity. TECHNICAL AND LOGISTICAL ACCOMPLISHMENT: Shows evidence of skill and effort in capturing difficult or fleeting subject, juxtaposing free ranging components, being at the right place at the right time, etc.
