    URTICARIA (Nettle Rash)

SYMPTOMSSmall, pale swellings on the skin, with severe itching and burning which comeand go, to be replaced by others. Each lesion lasts a few hours, and is succeeded by new ones inother places.

CAUSESOne cause is contact with the nettle plant, which pricks a poison into the skin. Othercauses include wheat, milk, eggs, chocolate, and other food allergens.

HYDROThe following formula is from the author's book, Water Therapy Manual (see bookstore):

Sponging with very hot water, Hot salt or alkaline Sponge, rolonged !eutral "ath (p. 239).

ENCOURAGEMENTray earnestly for help in all the little things of life, and you will beready when great crises come.

    INSECT STING

SYMPTOMS#edness, slight swelling, and possibly some itching.

#eaction to the sting can sometimes be more pronounced$ hoarseness, labored breathing, confusion, difficult swallowing, and severe swelling.

Sometimes the reaction can be severe$ possible closing of the airway and perhaps shock%cyanosis and a drop in blood pressure&.

CAUSESertain stinging insects in !orth (merica can cause reactions %honeybees, bumblebees, (frican bees, hornets, scorpions, fire ants, yellow )ackets, wasps, spiders, centipedes, andants&. Of these, the honeybee, yellow )acket, and (frican bee are the most dangerous.

    "ee venom contains formaldehyde.

!ote$ Each year, bee stings cause more deaths in (merica than snake bites.

    TREATMENT

    * ull out the stinger, if any remains. %Honeybees leave their stinger in the wound. +t must bepulled out immediately, for it keeps pulsating venom into the skin.& (void removing the stingerwith your fingers use a knife blade to scrape it out, to avoid s-ueeing in more poison.

    * (pply a paste of baking soda and water on the area or a compress that is wet with ammoniawater %more useful for scorpion stings&.

    * /et a little calcium gluconate and put it on the area.

    * rush a charcoal tablet and place in the area, and cover with cloth. This will reduce pain andswelling. ut some wet powdered charcoal in an cloth and tie it on for 012 hours.

    * harcoal has an amaing adsorptive %not absorptive& ability to pull into itself to3ins andpoisons, thus neutraliing them. This is due to its large chemical surface and the fact thatcharcoal is pure carbon. The carbon molecules are eager to unite with other substances.

    * lay or mud can also be used, especially if you are out in the woods. ut some mud on it as

soon as possible and leave it on for a half hour. Try to select the mud from a clean place, notfrom a mud hole, where animals may have polluted it. +f pain persists, apply charcoal.

    * (n enyme1based meat tenderier breaks down the proteins that make up insect venom, but youhave to use it right away for it to be effective.

    * To avoid infection, do not scratch the area.

    * (lso helpful are calcium chloride, hydrochloric acid, or ammonium chloride on the area.

    * (pply poultice of white oak bark and leaves, comfrey, and slippery elm.

    * ain gels, 45SO, or aladryl lotions can be applied.

    * alamine lotion often reduces the itching.

    * 4rink as much yellow dock tea as you can or take echinacea %tea or in capsule form&.

    * +ronically, either hot or cold will lessen the pain.

    * ( lengthy hot tub bath will help relieve abdominal pain that often develops after a bite.

    * ( cold pack or ice pack on the area will help relieve pain.

    * Those sensitive to stings should avoid situations in which they might get stung. +f they have to

be in such localities, they are wise to carry adrenalin %epinephrine& with them and beaccompanied by a friend who can go for help. #eactions can occur within minutes or hours.ontact a physician. 4eath can result if treatment is not sought.

    * +f you have a known allergy to a certain venom, you can have a physician prescribe anemergency treatment kit which you can keep with you.

    * urchase a small venom e3tractor and keep it with you.

    * S-uashing a yellow )acket releases a chemical that causes other yellow )ackets to attack. /henone stings, that also causes the others to become e3cited. +f bit, run. 6o indoors or )ump into

water. +nsects have a hard time following a person through a thicket of woods.

    * +nsects are repelled by the odor of turpentine.

    * Stinging insects prefer dark colors. So wear white or light1colored clothing.

    * 4o not wear perfumes of any kind.

    * +nsects are attracted to people who are deficient in inc. Take at least 78 mg a day.

    * Sometimes brewer's yeast or garlic rubbed on the skin deters insects.

    * 4rinking alcohol or eating an e3cess of sugar attracts biting, and other, insects.

    * (lso see 9Spider "ite,9 which includes that of black widows. (lso see 9Snake "ite.9 Treatmentfor a black widow bite is the same as that for a snake bite.

5oving slowly, a chigger crawls along until he finds a tight spot in a body crease or where theclothing is tight. Then, about < hours after hitching a ride, he digs in by in)ecting fluid which

dissolves tissue and produces a welt. (bout 017 hours later the itching begins and continues forabout 0 days.

    TREATMENT

    * #emove the chigger by scratching off with a fingernail, or apply castor oil or =aseline. (nothermethod is to apply clear nail polish to the spot this smothers the creature.

    * ( charcoal poultice can be a help.

    * "anana is reported to soothe chigger bites.

    * Hot baths help control the itching.

CAUSES"eware of bird nests close to your house: 5any birds are infested with mites, andthese can enter your home and get on you.

    TREATMENT

    * /ash the affected part with tar soap. /ash clothing in boiling water or press them with a hotiron.

    * Steep a tablespoon each of burdock root, yarrow, and yellow dock root in a pint of boilingwater for half an hour. Strain, add a pound of cocoa fat, and keep boiling and stirring until it is asalve. Ase this for an itch of any kind.

    MOSQUITO BITE

SYMPTOMS( mos-uito bite with its attendant itching.

CAUSESThe cule3, aedes, and anopheles mos-uitoes are in !orth (merica. 5alariacansometimes occur %which see&. The treatment below is for non1malarial bites.

    TREATMENT

    * To relieve itching$ #ub with raw garlic or fresh lemon )uice repeat as often as possible. #ubwith damp salt. #ub with vitamin tablet or powder.

    * To prevent bites from occurring$ Eat lots of raw garlic. (void sugar and white flour in all forms.+nclude vitamin " comple3 andBor brewer's yeast in the diet.

    LICE (Pedicl!sis)

SYMPTOMS+tching of the skin, often on the head, trunk, or pubic area. ?ice eggs can beseen on one's hair. The person will feel like he is overheated or has a slight fever.

CAUSESThere are three types of lice which infect people$ the head louse %pediculosiscapitis&, the body louse %p. corporis&, and the crab louse %p. pubis&. rab lice %also called crabs&are spread by se3ual contact.

?ice can be spread by hanging coats, scarves, and caps together or using someone else's comb, brush, etc. They live on the clothing %especially in the seams&, travel to the skin once a day for a

meal, then back onto the clothing.

?ice live about 08 days, and the female lays about ten eggs a day. The tiny eggs %nits& are laid atthe base of a hair shaft. (s the hair grows, the nits are carried upward and can be seen. They looklike tiny black or rust1colored spots at, or near, the base of the hair. They can even be found onthe chest, beard, and eyelashes.

Their long tentacles contain stinging cells which, touching you, pierce the skin and releasepoison. Even severed tentacles can poison )ust as intensively.

    TREATMENT

    * +mmediately rinse the wound with salt water. 4o not use fresh water, because it activates anystinging cells which have not already burst. >or the same reason, do not rub the skin.

    * !eutralie the area as soon as possible by splashing on one of the following, and do it again asneeded$ Ase rubbing or ethyl %li-uor& alcohol, vinegar, ammonia, or meat tenderier. Travel tip$Take a bottle of vinegar with you to the ocean beach.

    * +f any tentacles remain on your skin, apply a paste of sand and seawater then wrap your handin a towel and wipe them off or scrape them off with a knife or credit card.

    SPI$ER BITE

    SYMPTOMSain, swelling, nervous reactions.

Black widow bite:/ithin a short time the victim feels agoniing pain throughout the body, especially in the abdomen, which may be rigid as a board. old sweats, difficulty in breathing, nausea, vomiting, and sometimes delirium and convulsions occur.

CAUSESSpider, scorpion, and centipede bites:These can sometimes be dangerous most arevery painful. %(lso see 9+nsect "ite.9& +n case of spider bite, see a physician it might be a blackwidow.

Black widow bites:"lack widow venom is more potent, drop for drop, than the poison of a pitviper %rattlesnake, copperhead, or cotton mouth& but an e3tremely small amount is in)ected ineach spider bite.

    TREATMENT

    * The bite of a black widow should be treated like a snake bite%which see&, e3cept that it is notnecessary to give antivenin.

    * +f there is swelling or pain after a spider bite, keep calm and apply a constricting band

    * The ob)ective, throughout the above paragraph, is to slow the blood and reduce spread of thepoison.

    * 4rink as much yellow dock as possible or take < capsules every hour till symptoms recede.Swallow echinacea. (pply white oak bark poultices. Slippery elm, plantain, or comfrey are alsogood.

    SNA%E BITE

SYMPTOMSOne or two tiny bite holes which cause intense pain fre-uently there is nausea, vomiting, and unconsciousness.

CAUSESThere are two types of poisonous serpents in !orth (merica$

The pit viper %which includes rattlesnakes, copperheads, and cotton mouths Galso called watermoccasins& has a deep, heat1sensitive, pit on each side of the head. it vipers lunge forward, bite, and immediately pull back. Their venom contains a blood poison.

The coral snake does not )ump and, when it catches hold of the flesh, must hold on and chewawhile for the poison to sink in. +ts venom is a nerve poison.

5ore on identifying coral snakes$ They are found only in the southernmost areas of the AnitedStates, as well as south of the border, and have brightly colored rings. There is a non1poisonoussnake which looks similar, but the colored rings are arranged differently. #emember it this way$

9#ed by black, friend of ;ack but black by yellow, kill a fellow.9

The danger from snake bite occurs when the poison reaches the heart, and, secondarily, the effectof that poison on the blood and nervous system.

The action of the venom is rapid, regardless of the type of poisonous snake. There is rapidswelling and inflammation.

+f treatment is not immediately given, the poison may cause death. +f not death, then, after theinitial effects of pain and shock begin to wear off, e3tensive tissue damage begins. There issuppuration, gangrene, sloughing, and hemorrhage. +f this happens, recovery time is greatlyslowed.

    TREATMENT

    * The best single remedy you can keep on hand is a small hand1suction e3tractor for immediatelypulling the poison out of the wound. ontinue this for half an hour. %This suction is less usefulfor coral snake venom, but use it on all snake bites anyway:& +f there is no other way to e3tractthe poison, another person should suck it out, continually spitting out the blood, for half an hour.

    * The person doing the sucking should not have any sores in his mouth.

    * Suction can also be done with a pop bottle heated and applied. (s it cools a vacuum is formed.

    * (nother alternative is to cut off the end of a plastic in)ection syringe at the bottom of the largeend, apply to the bitten area, and pull back on the plunger.

    * Have the patient lie down, keep him calm and warm, apply a tourni-uet above the limb wherethe wound is. This constricting band should be tight enough to shut off the venous blood, but notso tight that it stops the arterial circulation. ?oosen the band CD seconds every C8 minutes.

    * The instruction formerly was to cut across between the two bite holes, so you could suck outmore blood and poison. The current theory is that no cuts should be made, but only sucking. +tmight be the best to suck and spit for a couple minutes this will clean the surface as well. Thencut across, so you can suck even better. "ut, when you are in the crisis, do what seems best.

    * 4o not give li-uor to the person, thinking that this will help him. +t does not:

    * Specific antivenin serums are in stock for various species of snakes. ?earn to identify thevarious snakes in your locality. %oral snakes are primarily found only in the southeastern states.&

    * 5assive doses of vitamin may save a life.

    * @eep calm and work carefully. E3citement speeds up the blood flow to the heart.

    * +n most cases, the person does not die. "ut pray and get yourself prepared for whatever may

    happen.

    * (fter the suction process is over, take charcoal from the campfire, mi3 it with water and drinkit, as follows$ a half glassful of water with C teaspoon of charcoal, and drink another one everyCD minutes until the danger is past.

    * +f able to do so, a couple hours later, take a steam bath or something similar, to sweat out thepoison.

  • 8/11/2019 Section 16 Poisons

    10/60

    * Throughout all this time, you should eat no food.

    * +f, after several hours, the bite area is still swollen and painful, put kerosene on a cloth andapply it, keeping it wet for several hours. This will help neutralie the poison. (n alternative is togrind up raw onions and apply to the area. ?eave them there until an offensive odor, not of

onions, is noticed. #emove bathe the area and apply more raw, crushed, onions until the pain isgone.

ENCOURAGEMENT/hen trials and tribulations come to you, know that every thing willwork out well if, through dedication and prayer, you will keep close to 6od.

    TYPHUS

SYMPTOMSSudden onset of chills, high fever, prostration, and general pains. The patient ise3cited, mentally alert, and has a flushed face and bloodshot eyes.

4elirium fre-uently occurs early. Small pink spots on neck, chest, abdomen, and limbs appearabout the fifth day. They change from pink to red, then to purple, and finally turn brownish.

Heavy bronchitis, with cough and sputum. ulse is rapid, but blood pressure is low.

+n its early stages, typhus is like #ocky 5ountain spotted fever, but the home treatment for bothis essentially the same.

CAUSESThere are three main types of typhus fevers %louse fever, flea and tick fever, and mitefever&, but they are all treated about the same and are caused by similar bacteria carried by lice, fleas, ticks, or mites.

Typhus occurs where people are crowded together under unsanitary conditions.

SYMPTOMS"etween < and 0< days after the bite, symptoms appear$ fatigue, flu1likesymptoms, stiff neck, backache, headache, nausea, and vomiting.

Altimately, enlargement of the lymph nodes and spleen may occur, along with irregular heart

    rhythm, arthritis, and brain damage.

Some of these symptoms slowly pass away over ever, chills, nausea, and vomiting may also occur.

< 1 /eeks or months later, facial paralysis may occur. >re-uently, enlargement of the spleen andlymph glands occurs andBor severe headaches, enlargement of the heart muscle, and abnormalheart rhythm.

0 1 This can develop into backache, stiff neck, )oint pains in the knees, swelling and pain in other)oints, and even degenerative muscle and )oint disease.

hysicians especially look for these symptoms, before treating with antibiotics$ a small red bumpat the site of the tick bite a bull's1eye rash surrounding it and flu1like symptoms such as fatigue, chills, and )oint pain. +f treatment is postponed until more advanced symptoms develop %heart, brain, or )oint problems&, drug medications do not work as well.

4ogs and cats can collect these special ticks out in the woods and bring them into your home.

Tick bites are generally painless and unnoticed so the symptoms may not at first, or later, becorrectly diagnosed. "ut in advanced stages, when correct diagnosis finally occurs, the situationmay have become critical.

The symptoms are similar to those ofmultiple sclerosis, gout,andEpstein1"arr virus%chronicfatigue syndrome&, all three of which see.

The ma)ority of cases occur in the summer and fall. (fter a tick bites, it waits several hoursbefore it begins to feed on the host's blood and, once it does, it feasts for 012 days. The longerthe tick remains attached, the greater the risk of ?yme disease.

?yme disease is treatable and almost always curable if correctly diagnosed in the early stages."ut, because the bites are usually painless, the incubation period so long, and the symptoms sovaried, the problem may go unrecognied for weeks or months.

1HAT IT ISThe ulse Test is mentioned in this book occasionally. +t was devised by (rthuroca, 5.4., and is discussed in detail in his book, The ulse Test.+t is a simple home method, to

determine which foods you are allergic to.

HO1 TO $O THE PULSE TEST+dentifying specific food allergens can improve yourhealth. Each test is simple enough, but they must be continued over a period of time.

    >irst, how do you take your pulseM lace your finger on an artery somewhere on your body thatyou can easily feel. !urses check the pulse at the inside of the wrist. The author has found that itis much easier to check it on the upper front side of his neck, at the carotid artery. Have astopwatch in your other hand and time the beats for one minute.

To perform this test, you take your pulse. This is called your basal pulse or base pulse rate.

Then you eat a single food, and check your pulse rate in CD, 08, and 78 minutes afterward.

(n elevation in pulse rate of more than ten beats that is, it beats more than C8 beats faster perminute than your base pulse. This means that you are allergic to that food.

( problem is that you may wish to eat more than one food at a time. Fou can take your basepulse, then sit down and eat your entire meal and keep checking your pulse CD, 08, and 78

OTHER TESTSHere are several other tests$

The li$ination iet:Eliminate certain foods from your meal for several days, and see how itaffects your pulse. This is a good pattern to use in connection with the ulse Test.

&ood %otation iets:This is said to be a good method. 6rains, proteins, and other suspectedfoods are arranged in the diet so that their consumption is not repeated more fre-uently thanevery 21D days. This helps you figure things out a little more -uickly with your pulse test.

The &ast Test:>ast for five days and then add individual foods and test each one with your pulse. This is far more accurate, but who wants to eat like a mouse all that timeM The theory behind this

method is that many reactions take D days to settle down and another 01D days to begin again."ut following that theory, you will not be eating much for a good long time.

kin atch Test:This is something you can buy at your drugstore. erhaps it will tell yousomething.

The iet iary:This method helps when offending foods seem to afterward bother youemotionally, give you headaches, etc. Fou keep an ongoing meal diary, at which you note whatyou ate, and afterward write down how it affected you. /ithin minutes or hours after eating anoffending food, there may be indications of problems.

The %*T TestThis test costs about NCD per food item, and you may want to use it, afternarrowing the range with the other tests. The #adioallergiabsorbent Test %#(ST Test& identifiesspecific antibodies in the blood to certain foods or other substances. Asually common allergenicfoods, such as wheat, milk, eggs, yeast, and citrus are tested. "ut any food can be a problem.5ost good laboratories do #(ST tests. However, because it is e3tremely selective %only showingup positive +ge1mediated allergies&, many false1negative reactions occur.

The ;ytoto+ic *ller,y Test: This test e3poses some of your white blood cells to a fraction of thesuspected food or substance. ( battery of 0K to 28 tests of common foods are routinely tested foronly NK8 to NJ8, so it is less e3pensive and more convenient than #(ST. Even inhalants, fooddyes, or other chemicals can be tested: "ut the test is only done at large medical centers and,

again, many false1positives occur. Some e3perts -uestion the reliability of this test, since humaninterpretation is re-uired to analye the results.

Anfortunately, results of #(ST and the cytoto3ic tests rarely agree. %+t is said that each testlocates different 9systems9 of allergies.& >rankly, it seems that you would do best )ust checkingyour pulse at home, and saving the money.

The plant has the greatest amount of this sap inthe spring and early summer. The poison is urushiol-which has both a plant resin and a volatileoil. Even dead roots and stems contain urushiol.

Scratching can transmit the to3ic substance to still other parts of the body.

ontact with the poison can be made, not only by touching the plant, but by touching an animal'sfur, contaminated clothing, shoes, etc. Smoke from burning plants can, through droplets, transmitit to the skin, nose, throat, or lungs. +n some cases, children have eaten the leaves or grayish

berries and developed severe inflammation in the mouth.

Sensitivity to the plant varies from person to person, and even in different times in a person's life.?ightweight fabrics do not ade-uately protect against poison ivy or oak.

    * +f the possibility e3ists that you may have touched it, wash your hands as soon as possible.arefully wash downward, so the water drips down off your hands rather than up your arms./ash with soap and water rinse in running water wash again with soap and water. 4o thisseveral times in order to get the to3ic oils off your skin. Then dry and see what happens.

    * (s soon as you touch the plant, try to wash the skin with water, even if no soap is available. The water tends to carry off the oil. +f nothing else is available, in an emergency apply paintthinner, ammonia, or acetone to carry off the oils.

    * Fellow laundry soap is best for this purpose. Fou want a strong cleansing soap which cuts oiland carries it away. (n alkaline laundry soap or detergent is the best.

    * +n washing the skin, never use a washcloth it only moves the to3ic oil around.

    * /ash clothing and gear in soapy water.

    * Those slightly sensitive to the plant can simply avoid touching or scratching the pimples, andthe itching will be only slightly noticed. +f they wish, they can briefly apply compresses of hot, plain, water to the area.

    * Those strongly sensitive may wish to consult a physician.

    * @eep in mind that, for most people, the treatment for urushiol is to reduce the itching until thepoison eventually leaves the system, at which time the rash completely clears up.

What should you put on the a##ected area to reduce the itchin,= ere are se'eral su,,estions:

    * ;ewelweed always ranks at the top of every list. This is a small plant with dark green leaves andred berries, which may be found in your locality. +f you are sure it is )ewelweed %and if you canfind it&, crush the leaves and rub them lightly on the affected area. (nother method is to ball upthe whole plant and wipe it over the area.

    * Other herbs include bloodroot, echinacea, goldenseal, lobelia, myrrh, plantain, or Solomon'sseal.

    * (nother method is to apply a tea made of D81D8 white oak bark and lime water. lace it on acloth, cover the area, and reapply as often as needed.

    * 5ost poisons are either strongly acid or alkaline in pH.&or an alkaline antidote to the itchin,-place some form of calcium powder, mi3ed with water to hold it in place, on the area. alciumgluconate %a dietary calcium supplement& is what the author uses. +t nicely reduces the itching.(n alternate alkaline method is to blend oatmeal into a fine powder, and add a small amount ofwater to make a paste. 6oldenseal, a very alkaline substance, can also be used. "anana peels, rubbed directly on the area, bring relief for as long as 2 hours. (nother way is to place calaminelotion on it %but beware of the antihistamine additives in some brands of it they can produce

their own allergic rash&. /hite shoe polish %which contains calcium and pipe clay& has also beenused, but it may contain additives you do not want.

    * There is also an acid approach to the proble$>(cid substances have also been used withsuccess, to reduce itching$ /ash lemon )uice over the area, then pat dry. #epeat as needed.

    =inegar can be used.

    * /et dressings and soaks are helpful. ( physiologic saline solution %< level teaspoons of salt to a-uart of water& is useful.

    * #un hot water %as hot as can be tolerated& over the area. This seems to wash off some of theoils. +tching may stop for several hours. #epeat when needed.

    * /hen you are finished working on the affected area, you might wish to wash rubbing alcoholover the skin e3posed to that area. This washes oils off your skin. %"ut this would appear to be apoor solution, since the oiless skin ought to have a higher affinity to the urushiol than oiled skin.&

    earn to identi#y the plant:

    * oison ivy is a small plant which, when a bush or tree is nearby, grows as a vine up it. 6rowingin the eastern states, it has three leaves with a notch in the two outer ones. The central leaf is atthe end of the stalk.

    * oison oak is a bush, generally small but which can grow taller than a man. 6rowing in thewestern states, it has the same three leaf and notch pattern, but the leaves are curly and appearthickerLmore like a live oak.

    * oison sumac is also a bush, and, with its compound leaves, looks very much like other sumac.+t does not have the three1leaf pattern. Fou are less likely to ever encounter poison sumac.

    * (void forest or other outdoor wood or leaf fires, if one of the three to3ic plants may be burning.

    TETANUS (L!c'4a5)

SYMPTOMSSymptoms generally appear within D1C8 days. ossible discomfort at the site ofthe wound. Stiffness on opening and closing the mouth, and the person becomes restless andapprehensive. 5uscle stiffness and spasms increase and spread to more muscles in the body. Theface becomes contorted, and the slightest noise or disturbance produces muscle spasms. ainintensifies, high fever and e3haustion develops, followed by death.

CAUSESTetanus is caused by the to3in %waste product& of clostridiu$ tetani-which normallylives in animal manure.

uncture wounds from stepping on dirty nails is the most likely immediate cause. The germ onlygrows where there is little or no o3ygen. The spores %seeds& were on that nail and, entering thebody, begin to grow and multiply. "ut the spores must penetrate deep enough they cannot grow

if o3ygen is present. +t is the to3in that the growing tetanus produces, which paralyes voluntarymuscle tissue, including the )aw muscle %the masseter&.

Tetanus is not common but, if contracted, it is e3tremely dangerous.

    TREATMENT

    * S-ueee the puncture wound repeatedly to make it bleed. @eep doing this until it bleeds freely.+f necessary, cut the area open with a clean, sharp, raor blade. Fou must get air to the wound andget it to bleed freely.

    * Then wash it well with soap and water pour in hydrogen pero3ide and let it fi. 6et the bloodflowing again. Then wash the area with pure water, pat dry with a sterile cloth, and cover with abandage.

    * all a physician. +f symptoms of tetanus begin appearing, call a physician at once: +t is not toolate.

ere is what nature healers in outo#theway places do- when there are no physicians a'ailable:

    * Take cramp bark tea in teaspoon doses.

    * 6rind up some peach leaves and apply directly to the wound after washing it. hange this rawpoultice twice a day.

    * Heat some turpentine and apply to the wound massage it over the )aw, neck, and spine whensymptoms of lock)aw are suspected.

    * Ase < cups of wood ashes per gallon of water, and soak the limb or punctured part in it. +f thewound is located where it cannot be soaked, apply the ash solution in a fomentation. 4o this foran hour, and repeat if danger is suspected.

    * +f lock)aw actually appears and the person shows stiffening, give C8 drops of antispasmodic

tincture every CD minutes until the stiffening is gone.

The #or$ula #or the tincture is as #ollows:
