3M™ Controltac™ Plus Graphic Film Series 160Use this 4 mil, vinyl film to produce screen printed, long term durable graphics. Applications include graphics for bus, commercial vehicle or fleet, emblems, striping, interior and exterior graphics and signs, mass-transit interior advertising, point-of-purchase or trade show displays, vending or dispensing ma-chine and color graphics. Internally-illuminated graphics can be produced using translucent frost version of this film. Graphics will have a matte finish when using 160-30 aque white or 160-32 opaque black film, or a translucent frost finish when using the 160-60 translucent frost film. The film is printable with enamel inks and is scuff-resistant.

Installation of large graphics is easy with this film beacause 3M’s patented, pressure activated adhesive allows it to be temporarily repositioned until pressure is applied to the film surface. The adhesive of the opaque white or opaque black film is gray-pigmented for excellent hiding power. The translucent frost choice offers clear adhesive. The film applies well to flat surfaces, either with or without rivets. Appro-priate substrates include glass, metal, paint, and rigid plastic. This film can be removed within 5 years using only heat, leaving little or no adhesive residue; some exceptions to removal apply.

3M™ Controltac™ Plus Graphic Film with Comply™ Performance Series 180C

Use this 2 mil, opaque film to produce signs, emblems, striping and graphics for fleet, vehicle and bus applications. It is a durable film used to screen print logn-term, interior or exterior graphics that can withstand severe weather conditions in industrial or commercial locations. The film is available in a variety of sizes in a wide selection of glossy colors or matte black.

Installation of large graphics is easy with the Comply™ Performance feature of this film. This is a me-chanical feature that allows air to travel through the adhesive, so there are usally fewer air bubbles and the film can be applied with time-saving techniques such as large squeegees. The pressure-activated adhesive allows the film to be repositioned during installation until pressure is applied to the film sur-face. This graphic film applies well to flat or corrugated surfaces, with or without rivets, simple curves or moderate, compund curves. Appropriate substrates include ABS resins, aluminum, chrome, glass, fibreglass-reinforced plastic and paint. The film can be removed using a heat or chemical system.

3M™ Scotchcal™ ElectroCut™ Graphic Film Series 77253M™ Scotchcal™ ElectroCut™ Graphic Film Series 7725 is a 2 mil, pressure-sensi-tive film designed for permanent graphics that may be prespaced and electronically cut, screen printed or used in narrow width thermal transfer printing systems. This film, which is the same color on both sides, has a transparent synthetic liner that re-sists moisture absorption and static buildup, lays flat for easier assembly of multicolor graphics, and allows superior cutting and weeding. It is available in a wide range of colors.

Use this 2 mil, translucent, cast vinyl film for permanent, durable interior or exterior graphics on internally-illuminated sign faces or awnings. It can be used in thermoforming with rigid plastic surfacesunder well-controlled conditions as described in 3M technical literature. The low surface gloss eleimates glare and provides a uniform color in both reflected and transmitted light. The translucent synthetic liner facilitates multi-col-or registration, has superior lay-flat characteristics in all shop humidity conditions, adn does not split if wet . 3M™ Scotchlite™ “Flat-Top” Wide Angle Reflective Engineer Grade Sheeting is a highly durable, adhesive coated opaque sheeting. Engineer Grade Sheeting remains brilliantly reflective even when totally wet by rain. It also retains its reflectivity when viewed at wide entrance angles.(These materials are for use as industrial signing materials only and are not warranted for use on vehicles.)

Sheeting series 5200 is designed for the production of small signs and markings which may require application at low tempera-tures and for applications to moderately rough surfaces. Sheeting series 5200 is not intended to be used for large signs.

3M™ Scotchlite™ Flexible Reflective Graphic Film Series 680 This enclosed-lens, retroreflective film is intended for making permanent, durable graphics. Applications include multicolor commercial vehicle graphics, railroad graphics, commercial signs and striping. Graphics subjected to fuel vapors or occasional spills can also be made with this film, and it is ideal for large graphics and graphics applied to corrugated substrates. This flexible film has excellent angularity, retains 90 percent of its retroreflectivity when totally wet, and resists cracking in cold climates. Graph-ics made with this film have similar daytime and nightime appearance, and film 680-85 has a black daytime appearance but reflects white at night.

The combined thickness of the film and its adhesive is .007 to .008 inch. The adhesive is positionable and pressure-activated, which allows it to be repositioned during installation until pressure is applied to the film’s surface. The adhesive is clear with silver underneath. The film has a 94 pound, polyethylene-coated paper liner. It applies best to flat, flat with rivets, moderate compound curves, or corrugated surfaces. Recom-mended substrates include aluminum, FRP and paint. This is not a removable product. Heat helps take off the top layer, but removing the mended substrates include aluminum, FRP and paint. 3M™ Light Enhancement Film 3635-1003M™ Light Enhancement Film increases Sign Luminance. A light box or channel letter contains lighting elements that illuminate the front sign face and trasmit some light to the viewer. However, much of the illumination is reflected or absorbed by other materials in the light box.

The white sign face materials typically used in cabinets trasmit only about 25% to 30% of the light that strikes them. The white face material can absorb as much as 15% of the light and reflects the remaining light back into the cabinet. Light from the rear of the light source and light that is reflected back into the cabinet strikes the cabinet sides and back. Some of this light is reflected and soe of it is absorbed.

The light enhanceing characteristics of this film will be minimized if dark colored rigid plastic faces are used. This is due to the very high rate of light absorption and low rate of reflectivity of such faces. 3M recommends testing the faces before reducing the number of lighting components.

This film is most efficient when the total face is 10 to 35% transmissive and a low rate of absortion. The following construc-tions are examples that fall within this range; other constructions may be possible.

3635-100 film is intended for covering all interior opaque surfaces within single-sided, internally-illuminated cabinets.

GerberVision™ Perforated Window FilmGerberVision is an adhesive backed, perforated vinyl film custom formulated by 3M™ for use with Gerber Digital Color Print-ing Systems and GerberColor™ foils. GerberVision has a white front for image reception, a black backing and a clear adhesive. Because the film is perforated, the black backing side can be seen through.

Gerber Gauge™Estimating the remaining length on GerberColor foils has never been easier. GerberGauge, a patented length remaining mark-ing system, is imprinted directly along the edge of the GerberColor foil. The markings are displayed as whole numbers-both meters and yards-and appear approximately every four inches over the length of the foil to indicate the minimum amount of foil remaining in the cartridge.
