PART 1 - GENERAL

1.1 SUMMARY

C. Samples for Verification: For the following products, in manufacturer's standard sizes unless otherwise indicated:

1. Each type of material, color, and finish required for units, prepared on 6-inch square Samples of same thickness and material indicated for Work.

2. Each type of hardware and accessory.

D. Coordination Drawings: Before distribution to installers, submit coordination drawings specified under “Coordination” for information.

E. Product Certificates: For each type of toilet compartment, from manufacturer.

F. Maintenance Data: Submit for each product specified in this section. Include instructions for cleaning and preventive maintenance

1.3 QUALITY ASSURANCE

A. Installer’s Qualifications: A company regularly engaged in installation ofproducts specified in this section, with a minimum of five (5) years documented experience.

B. Regulatory Requirements: Products and finished installations to be used by handicapped persons must comply with requirements of the Florida Building Code (FBC) and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)

1.4 PROJECT CONDITIONS

A. Field Measurements: Verify actual locations of walls, columns, ceilings, and other construction contiguous with toilet compartments by field measurements

' before fabrication and indicate measurements on Shop Drawings.

B. Coordinate fabrication schedule with construction progress to avoid delaying the Work.

B. Stainless-Steel Units: Facing sheets and closures fabricated from ASTM A 666, Type 304, stainless-steel sheet, leveled to stretcher-leveled flatness.

1. Stainless-Steel Facing Sheet Thicknesses: Specified thicknesses asfollows:

a. Pilasters, Braced at Both Ends: Manufacturer's standard thickness, but not less than 0.038 inch.

b. Panels: Manufacturer's standard thickness, but not less than 0.0312 inch

c. Doors: Manufacturer's standard thickness, but not less than 0.0312 inch.

d. Wall-Flung Urinal Screens: Manufacturer's standard thickness tomatch panels

2. Stainless Steel Finish: No. 4 bright, satin brushed on exposed faces. Exposed surfaces are protected from damage by application of strippable, temporary protective covering before shipment.

C. Door, Panel, and Pilaster Construction: Seamless, metal facing sheets are pressure laminated to core material. Units have continuous, interlocking molding strip or lapped and formed edge closures. Exposed surfaces are free of pitting, seam marks, roller marks, stains, discolorations, telegraphing of core material, or other imperfections. Corners are sealed by welding or clips. Exposed welds are ground smooth.

1. Core Material: Manufacturer's standard sound-deadening honeycomb of resin-impregnated kraft paper in thickness required to provide finished thickness of 1 inch for doors and panels and 1-1/4 inches for pilasters.

2. Grab-Bar Reinforcement: Provide concealed internal reinforcement for grab bars mounted on units.

3. Tapping Reinforcement: Provide concealed reinforcement for tapping(threading) at locations where machine screws are used for attaching items to units.

4. Urinal-Screen Construction: Match panel construction

D. Pilaster Shoes and Sleeve Caps: Stainless steel, ASTM A 666, Type 302 or 304, not less than 0.031 inch specified thickness and 3 inches high, finished to match hardware.

E. Brackets (Fittings):

2.2 ACCESSORIES

A. Hardware and Accessories: Manufacturer's standard design, heavy-dutyoperating hardware and accessories.

1. Material: Stainless steel.

B. Anchorages and Fasteners: Manufacturer's standard exposed fasteners ofstainless steel or chrome-plated steel or brass, finished to match hardware, with theft-resistant-type heads. Provide hex-type bolts for through-bolt applications. For concealed anchors, use hot-dip galvanized or other rust-resistant, protective-coated steel.

C. Overhead Bracing: Manufacturer's standard continuous, extruded-aluminumhead rail with anti-grip profile and in manufacturer's standard finish.

2.3 FABRICATION

A. Overhead-Braced Units: Provide manufacturer's standard corrosion-resistant supports, leveling mechanism, and anchors at pilasters to suit floor conditions. Provide shoes at pilasters to conceal supports and leveling mechanism.

B. Floor-Anchored Units: Provide manufacturer's standard corrosion-resistantanchoring assemblies with leveling adjustment nuts at pilasters for structural connection to floor. Provide shoes at pilasters to conceal anchorage.

C. Door Size and Swings: Unless otherwise indicated, provide 24-inch- wide in­swinging doors for standard toilet compartments and 36-inch- wide out-swinging doors with a minimum 32-inch- wide clear opening for compartments indicated to be accessible to people with disabilities.

1. Hinges: Manufacturer's standard self-closing type that can be adjusted to hold doors open at any angle up to 90 degrees.

2. Latch and Keeper: Manufacturer's standard surface-mounted latch unit designed for emergency access and with combination rubber-faced door strike and keeper. Provide units that comply with accessibility requirements of authorities having jurisdiction at compartments indicated to be accessible to people with disabilities.

3. Coat Hook: Manufacturer's standard combination hook and rubber-tipped bumper, sized to prevent door from hitting compartment-mounted accessories. Locate on compartment side panel, not back of door, where applicable.

4. Door Bumper: Manufacturer's standard rubber-tipped bumper at out-swinging doors.

5. Door Pull: Manufacturer's standard unit at out-swinging doors that complies with accessibility requirements of authorities having jurisdiction. Provide units on both sides of doors at compartments indicated to be accessible to people with disabilities.

PART 3 - EXECUTION

3.1 INSTALLATION

A. General: Comply with manufacturer's written installation instructions. Install units rigid, straight, level, and plumb. Secure units in position with manufacturer's recommended anchoring devices.

1. Maximum Clearances:a. Pilasters and Panels: 1/2 inch.b. Panels and Walls: 1 inch.

2. Stirrup Brackets: Secure panels to walls and to pilasters with no fewer than three brackets with one attached at midpoint and others near top and bottom of panel.a. Locate wall brackets so holes for wall anchors occur in masonry or

tile joints.b. Align brackets at pilasters with brackets at walls.

B. Wall-Hung Urinal Screens: Attach with anchoring devices to suit supporting structure. Set units level and plumb and to resist lateral impact.

C. Overhead-Braced Units: Secure pilasters to floor and level, plumb, and tighten. Set pilasters with anchors penetrating not less than 1-3/4 inches into structural floor unless otherwise indicated in manufacturer's written instructions. Secure continuous head rail to each pilaster with no fewer than two fasteners. Hang doors to align tops of doors with tops of panels, and adjust so tops of doors are parallel with overhead brace when doors are in closed position.

D. Floor-Anchored Units: Set pilasters with anchors penetrating not less than 2 inches into structural floor unless otherwise indicated in manufacturer's written instructions. Level, plumb, and tighten pilasters. Hang doors and adjust so tops of doors are level with tops of pilasters when doors are in closed position.

3.2 ADJUSTING

A. Hardware Adjustment: Adjust and lubricate hardware according tomanufacturers written instructions for proper operation. Set hinges on in­swinging doors to hold doors open approximately 30 degrees from closed position when unlatched. Set hinges on out-swinging doors to return doors to fully closed position.

B. Provide final protection and maintain conditions that ensure toilet compartmentsand screens are without damage or deterioration at the time of SubstantialCompletion

4.0 SCHEDULE

A. Provide stainless steel standard stalls and handicap stalls as indicated on plan.

B. Wall-Hung Urinal Screens: Attach with anchoring devices to suit supporting structure. Set units level and plumb and to resist lateral impact.

C. Field verify location of plumbing fixtures and note on shop drawings along with compartment dimensions.

D. Coordinate blocking locations.

C. Product Schedule: Indicating types, quantities, sizes and installation locations by room of each accessory required. Use designations indicated in the Toilet Accessory Schedule and room designations indicated on Drawings in accessory schedule.

D. Provide maintenance data for accessories; include in maintenance manuals specified in Division 1. Provide lists of replacement parts and service recommendations.

E. Product Certificate: Signed by manufacturer certifying that products furnished meet or exceed the specified requirements.

1.3 QUALITY ASSURANCE

A. Product Options: Accessory requirements, including those for materials, finishes, dimensions, capacities, and performance, are éstablished by specific products indicated in the Toilet Accessory Schedule.

B. Interior Toilet Room Accessories shall conform to ADA and all other applicable codes for provisions of the physically handicapped.

1.4 COORDINATION

A. Coordinate accessory locations with other work to prevent interference with clearances required for access by disabled persons, proper installation, adjustment, operation, cleaning, and servicing of accessories. Notify the Architect in writing of any conflicts concerning product placement for resolution. Do not proceed without resolution.

B. Deliver inserts and anchoring devices set into concrete or masonry as required to prevent delaying the Work.

1.5 WARRANTY

A. General Warranty: Special warranty specified in this Article shall not deprive Owner of other rights Owner may have under other provisions of the Contract Documents and shall be in addition to, and run concurrent with, other warranties made by Contractor under requirements of the Contract Documents.

1. Minimum Warranty Period: 15 yëars from date of SubstantialCompletion.

2.2 MATERIALS

A. Stainless Steel: ASTM A666, Type 304, with No. 4 finish (satin), in 0.0312- inch minimum nominal thickness, unless otherwise indicated.

B. Concealed Galvanized Steel Sheet: ASTM A 653/A 653M, G90.

C. Chromium Plating: ASTM B 456, Service Condition Number SC 2 (moderate service), nickel plus chromium electrodeposited on base metal.

D. Galvanized Steel Mounting Devices: ASTM A 153/A 153M, hot-dip galvanized after fabrication.

E. Fasteners: Screws, bolts, and other devices of same material as accessory unit, tamper and theft resistant when exposed, and of galvanized steel when concealed.

2.3 FABRICATION

A. General: One, maximum 1-1/2-inch-diameter, unobtrusive stampedmanufacturer logo, as approved by Architect, is permitted on exposed face of accessories. On interior surface not exposed to view or back surface of each accessory, provide printed, waterproof label or stamped nameplate indicating manufacturer's name and product model number.

B. Surface-Mounted Toilet Accessories: Unless otherwise indicated, fabricate units with tight seams and joints, and exposed edges rolled. Hang doors and access panels with continuous stainless-steel hinge. Provide concealed anchorage where possible.

C. Keys: Provide universal keys for internal access to accessories for servicing and re-supplying. Provide minimum of three (3) keys to Owner’s representative.

PART 3 - EXECUTION

3.1 INSTALLATION

A. Install accessories according to manufacturers' written instructions, using fasteners appropriate to substrate indicated and recommended by unit manufacturer. Install units level, plumb, and firmly anchored in locations and at heights indicated.

B. Secure mirrors to walls in concealed, tamper-resistant manner with special hangers, toggle bolts, or screws. Set units level, plumb, and square at locations indicated, according to manufacturer’s written instructions for substrate indicated.

C. Install grab bars to withstand a downward load of at least 250 lbs., when tested according to method in ASTM F 446.

D. Correct unsatisfactory substrate conditions before start of accessory installation.

E. Beginning of installation means installer’s acceptance of surfaces/ substrate.

3.2 A d ju s t an d c le a n

A. Adjust accessories for unencumbered, smooth operation and verify that mechanisms function properly. Replace damaged or defective items.

B. Remove temporary labels and protective coatings.

C. Clean and polish exposed surfaces according to manufacturers written recommendations.

3.3 TOILET AND BATH ACCESSORY SCHEDULE

FIRE-PROTECTION SPECIALTIES

C. Fire Extinguishers: Listed and labeled for type, rating, and classification by an independent testing agency acceptable to authorities having jurisdiction.

1. Provide fire extinguishers approved, listed, and labeled by FMG.

1.5 COORDINATION

A. Coordinate size of fire-protection cabinets to ensure that type and capacity offire extinguishers indicated are accommodated.

1.6 WARRANTY

A. Special Warranty: Manufacturer's standard form in which manufacturer agreesto repair or replace components of portable fire extinguishers that fail in materials or workmanship within specified warranty period.

1. Failures include, but are not limited to, the following:

a. Failure of hydrostatic test according to NFPA 10.b. Faulty operation of valves or release levers.

2. Warranty Period: Six years from date of Substantial Completion.

PART 3 - EXECUTION

3.1 EXAMINATION

2. Provide fasteners, filler plates, supports, clips, and closures as required for complete installation.

B. Fabricate each metal locker with an individual door and frame; individual top, bottom, and back; and common intermediate uprights separating compartments. Factory weld frame members of each metal locker together to form a rigid, one-piece assembly.

C. Knocked-Down Construction: Fabricate metal lockers using nuts, bolts, screws, or rivets for nominal assembly at Project site.

A. Examine CMU bases for suitable conditions where metal lockers are to beinstalled.

B. Examine walls, floors, and support bases, with Installer present, for compliance with requirements for installation tolerances and other conditions affecting performance of the Work.

C. Prepare written report, endorsed by Installer, listing conditions detrimental to performance of the Work.

D. Proceed with installation only after unsatisfactory conditions have been corrected.

1. Anchor locker runs at ends and at intervals recommended bymanufacturer, but not more than 36 inches o.c. or unless noted otherwise.Using concealed fasteners, install anchors through backup reinforcing plates, channels, or blocking as required to prevent metal distortion.

2. Anchor single rows of metal lockers to walls near top of lockers and to CMU base.

B. Knocked-Down Metal Lockers: Assemble with standard fasteners, with noexposed fasteners on door faces or face frames.

C. Equipment and Accessories: Fit exposed connections of trim, fillers, and closures accurately together to form tight, hairline joints, with concealed fasteners and splice plates.
