By participating in or traveling on any part of the Fulton Montgomery Quilt Barn Trail (FMQBT), visitors agree to take responsibility for their own actions nad to hold harmless the Fulton Montgomery Quilt Barn Trail, its committee, or FMQBT barn quilt owners against any claims, liabilities, or losses.

THE FIRST QUILT BARN TRAIL (QBT) was created in 2001 in Adams County Ohio. Donna Sue Groves had the original idea as a personal way to honor her mother who was an avid quilter. What started as an individual gift idea with one square, quickly blossomed into a community wide event with twenty and has grown into a nationwide public arts movement.

WOODEN QUILT BARN SQUARES (QBS) can be based on traditional patterns with individual influences making them unique to each property and community. QBS can be mounted on barns, houses, sheds, fences, posts ... just about anywhere. When several of the squares are displayed throughout a community they create a “quilt barn trail.” They usually range in size from 4’ x 4’ up to 8’ x 8’.

Quilt barn trails can be found in almost all 50 states and represent community pride and individual artistry. They also serve as an incredible opportunity to promote tourism by introducing a whole new audience to the amazing small businesses that dot a rural landscape.
