What is the Big difference between Sec 2 and 3 syllabus

• Language learning is a cumulative process. Students will be learning more higher order thinking skills and they will be required to answer questions on news articles and current affairs.

• For essay writing, they will be taught how to write news review (with greater depth) and argumentative essay.

• For oral, they will be tested based on video stimulus given, instead of picture conversation.

• For HMTL, there will be oral component and sentence correction (new SEAB exam format).

• Maths has a spiral curriculum.

• A spiral approach is adopted in the building up of content across the levels

• Students are introduced to the 3 strands : Number and Algebra, Geometry and Measurement and Statistics and Probability at the lower secondary level first before the complexity and rigor is picked up at the upper secondary level.

History: Focus is on Singapore’s History from 1945 – 1965.

History Elective: Focus is on world events, starting from the end of World War I to the causes of World War II and the Cold War. Answers would also require students to demonstrate more in depth thinking and analysis on the issue.
