Half Moon Theatre trip – Monday, 19th November 2012

It’s important that all students are improving their Maths the whole time. Here is one way to do that. Get on-line with My Maths and find the right level to work on.

Website: www.mymaths.co.uk

School login: school21

School password: rainbow

All students have been given their own individual login's which are in their planners. As a parent you can log in using your child’s login to look at what homework has been set and by clicking on the "my results" tab on the left hand side of the page you can monitor their results. You can also find tasks and lessons using the MyMaths.co.uk Library. Click Library on the left of the screen and you will see Number, Algebra, Shape and Data appear. Click on one of these titles, select a topic and click an activity. The Level of the lesson is shown as a pink number on the list. You will have the option to complete a lesson or an Online Homework. Only Online Homework tasks are recorded. You can help your child by encouraging them to visit the library and work through the lessons at their level. If you have time, you might want to work through some of the topics with them. The lessons are clear and easy to follow.

Students shine at using six exceptional words

On 19th November at The Half Moon Theatre, Whitehorse Lane, Stepney the whole Secondary School will spend the day working with professionals from the theatre world covering aspects such as playwriting, acting, sound, lighting, stage management. They will be working on a piece of new writing that over the course of the day they will turn into a piece of theatre that they will perform at 4.45 in the actual theatre space. Pupils will act, build the set, stage manage as well as design and work the lighting and sound. The aim is to develop pupils’ speaking skills, build self-esteem and their leadership skills in a real situation. It will be a challenging as well as an inspiring day. Pupils will need to be in school by 8.15 and will return to school by around 5.30/6.00. It will be a non uniform day as pupils will need to wear clothes they do not mind getting messy.
