Prayer to Saint Joseph Hail to you, St Joseph, Guardian of the Redeemer,
Spouse of the Blessed Virgin Mary. God entrusted to your care
his only Son; in you Mary placed her trust; with you Christ became man. Blessed Joseph, to us too, be
our parent and guide us in the path of life. Obtain for us grace, mercy and
courage, and defend us from every evil.

Returning to Mass Auckland is now in the RED Traffic Light management system.
Our normal Mass timetable has resumed for vaccinated Parishioners
Under the RED Traffic Light we can have Mass for vaccinated people with the fol-lowing limitations:
• Maximum 100 people / 1m distancing
• Record keeping / scanning required (You can scan the QR code on the newsletter) • Face coverings recommended
Everyone must provide proof of Vaccination (My Vaccine Pass) at the door
We look forward to welcoming you back to Mass, but we will have to get used to a new way of doing things, at least for the time being:
• please arrive earlier than usual to allow time for the checking of your vaccine pass at the door; please have your pass ready to be checked, either on your phone or a print copy; unfortunately, if you don’t have a vaccine pass we cannot let you enter; if you need help with getting a pass, please let us know.
• face coverings are highly recommended;
• We will be limited to a maximum of 100 people. If you are turned away because we have exceeded that number, please understand that we have to be strict in applying these rules.
Sunday Mass continues to be broadcast on ShineTV (Freeview Ch25) at 2pm Sundays and is available to stream anytime after
5.30pm Saturday at https://www.aucklandcatholic.org.nz/home-2020-new-design/the-church-and-covid-level-4-2/#mass

This second Sunday of Advent is a stepping-stone towards the great feast of Christmas. Without losing sight of the end times that lie ahead, we begin to focus on the event that transformed human history: the birth, life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. But first, we are drawn into ancient Israel’s deep and patient longing for the Messiah.

New Church Lectern We had some marble pieces left over from the
construction of our new tabernacle. These have been re-purposed to use as a new lectern in the church, on a trial basis, pending the general approval of parishioners.

Advent Prayer and Action | An invitation – Advent is a Season of Hope. As we move out of a period of stay-at-
home orders, with Covid-19 a reality in our communities and a sense of uncertainty we are hopeful that all shall be well. In this season when we prepare with hope for
the coming of Emmanuel – God with us all are invited to join a circle of prayer. Prayer for ourselves, our
communities, the world. Each morning from the first Sunday of Advent 28 November – Christmas Ever at
8.30am on the diocesan Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/aucklandcatholic advent prayer will be offered. Young people from our school communities,
representatives from parish and ethnic communities, diocesan staff will lead us prayer. We the diocese
gathering to pause and pray together. Then at 10.30 am [ 1-24 December] same place we will upload an Advent Calendar. Not a digital chocolate but it will open up an
Advent Action. A simple way to connect with the Gospel and live the hope of Advent. Please join us.

Parish news: 3 December 2021
We have moved into the Advent season which always makes the children happy knowing Christmas is only a few weeks away. It is important for the children, in times of commercialism, to understand the real rea-son for Christmas is the birth of Christ. Each class has an Advent wreath and if you have a chance, it is a special way to focus your family prayers or at meal times. Waterwise On Thursday the year 6 children were lucky enough to be able to attend a Waterwise session. They had a great time and enjoyed being outdoors again. There is one more session next week before they finish for the year.
Our end of year is looking a lot different this year but we are hoping to hold a farewell for Maureen on the 13th December and a year 6 end of year picnic on 14th De-cember and a whole school mass on 15th December. God Bless Maureen Harris

• Mon 6 Dec: Optional for St Nicholas, bishop. Bishop of Myra in Lycia in the 3rd century. Very little is known in fact of his life, though a great tradition has grown around him and popular devotion to him from early times. It’s said that his incorrupt body exuded the odour of myrrh with healing property. Stories of his generosity led to a tradition of giving gifts in his name at Christmas time, hence his association with the season.
• Tue 7 Dec: Memorial for St Ambrose, bishop and doctor of the Church. Born 339 at Trier, practiced in Roman law-courts and appointed to office in Milan. While still a catechumen was elected Bishop of Milan by the laity – hesitated to accept, but was baptized, ordained and studied theology, became famous as a preacher & defender of the faith. He received St Augustine into the Church. He fought paganism and protected the Church against political power.
• Wed 8 Dec: : Solemnity for The Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary. (Gen 3:9-15,20; Ps 98; Eph 1:3-6,11-12; Lk 1:26-38).
• Thu 9 Dec: Optional for St Juan Diego Cuauhtlatoatzin, to whom Our Lady appeared on this day in 1531 at Guadalupe, leaving a miraculous image on his cloak.
• Sat 11 Dec: Optional for St Damasus I, pope. Born about 305, elected pope by the clergy and people of Rome in 366. He summoned synods to suppress various heresies rife at the time, particularly Arianism and Donatism. He commissioned St Jerome to undertake translation of the scriptures. He embellished and conserved the tombs of the martyrs. Died in 384.
Christmas Hampers and Gifts for De Paul House While the main focus for De Paul House’s Christmas appeal is gift vouchers (see left) they do try to provide food hampers. We can collect items for the food hampers at the Parish Office, drop items in any time and we will arrange for these items to get to De Paul House, some suggested items are: Tinned goods: Corned beef, large Tuna, sweetcorn, baked beans, fruit, vegetables like peas, pasta sauce Dry goods : flour, pasta, rice, sugar, milo, coffee, tea, juice, Dairy goods :long life milk, cheese, Xmas treats: (NOT mince pies, xmas cake they are not popular with our families.) Chocolate biscuits, biscuits, snacks, chips, nuts, lemonade, sweets, Personal care: shampoo, soap, toothpaste, toothbrush, body wash, hand soap, nappies (all sizes)
