Upcoming Feast ~St. Anthony The Abbot~

January 17th , 2018

May we be assisted, O Lord, by the intercession of the blessed Abbot Anthony, so that those graces to which our own merits give us no claim may be granted to us through his favour. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever. Amen

Food For the Hungry

I have shown you in every way, by laboring like this, that you must support the weak. And re-member the words of the Lord Jesus, that H e said, 'It is more blessed to give than to receive.' Acts 20:35 We thank you for your food donations!! please con-tinue to help: canned food, oil, peanut butter, green and yellow vegetables. Drop them at the Rectory. It truly feels good when we are able to help so many . “God loves a cheerful giver.” Each time we give to someone we are giving to Christ.

THE LAMB OF GOD “Behold the Lamb of God!” We hear this phrase every Sunday at Mass, but there’s a good chance that many Roman Catholics do not know who in the Bible originally spoke it. The phrase appears only in the Gospel of John, on the lips of John the Baptist, who utters it twice. In today’s Gospel reading, John proclaims Jesus as the Lamb of God, and two of John’s own disciples then follow Christ. A little bit later Andrew, who heard John and then followed Jesus, brings his brother Simon to be re-named Cephas, or Peter. A careful look at these Bible verses shows us the mission of everyone baptized into the Body of Christ: we must always proclaim our faith in Christ, so that others will follow him. We may not know how the will of God might work through those we bring to Christ; that is not the point. The point is that our on-going mission as a church is to bring others to Christ, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world. Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co., Inc.

Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co., Inc.

MOUTON BONDYE A “Men Mouton Bondye a!” Nou tande pawòl sa yo chak di-manch nan lamès, men gen anpil katolik ki dwe pa konnen ki moun nan Bib la ki te di pawòl sa yo pou premye fwa. Nou jwenn Pawòl sa yo nan Levanjil Jan an sèlman, nan bouch Jan Batis , ki di yo an de fwa. Nan Levanjil jodia, Jan pwoklame Jezi kòm Mouton Bondye a , ansanm ak de nan pwòp disip li yo ki apre , vinn ap swiv Kris la.

The Heavens were open and the spirit of God came upon Him

I descended from Heaven with the special mission of redeeming the human race. This would involve first of all the cleansing of souls by repentance and then the commitment from all those who follow me through baptism.

The Holy Trinity was present in the solemn event of my Baptism. My Father spoke lov-ingly from Heaven confirming that His favour rests on me. I sanctified the waters of Bap-tism, opening the way for the purification of souls. The Holy Spirit descended upon me to fill me and to strengthen me for my work on earth.

I set an example for all to follow, in fact Baptism is the sacrament of initiation into the Christian Life. Those who believe in my teachings are baptized will be saved. In baptism I fill the soul with the fire of my Holy Spirit, I make the soul a part of my mystical body, I grant my sanctifying grace to the spirit of the baptized so that his conscience will cary the light that came to give to the world.

In baptism you are clothed with my grace, my light and my protection, in other words you are Clothed with Christ. My light is the power that the soul needs to grow, to thrive and to acquire the merits of my salvation.

For those who repent and desire to be purified with the waters of salvation, I grant the fire of the Holy Spirit to increase their faith and to make them see with the eyes of the spirit, a heavenly gift that is hidden to those who prefer the world. I baptize with the fire of the Holy Spirit.

When a child is baptized, he carries the seed of my love within him, he becomes my son, my beloved and my favor rests on him. I send my Holy Spirit to guide him through life and my sanctifying grace to lead him; he has very intimate encounters with me in the practice of his faith and in the Sacraments of the Church.

When and adult is baptized, he experiences my love and my mercy, I forgive all his sins and he is clothed in my light. Even though he is old, he is born again into life.

There is only one baptism ; this is the firm ground on which the other sacraments rest for the sanctification of the soul.

2018 ABCD

One in Faith, One in Hope and One in Charity

The Archbishop’s Charities and Development Drive (ABCD), our diocesan annual appeal, provides us with an opportunity to come together as one community of faith to serve the educational, physical and spiritual needs of our Catholic community here in south Florida. Guided by the Holy Spirit, we come together to ad-vance our mission to love and serve, as Jesus did, through acts of charity and compassion to help those in need. Our Faith is alive in our parishes and schools, in our apostolic movements and ministries, and in our vari-ous programs of outreach to the poor, the immigrant, the elderly, the homeless and the disabled. It is alive in our people, people of all backgrounds and ages, and throughout every corner of our Archdiocese. For all of us, making a gift to the ABCD is a way to give expression to the faith contained in our hearts; and for many, it is also an opportunity to give back, in thanksgiving, for the many blessings we have received from God. If you have not already responded to the letter sent to you by Archbishop Wenski in the mail, please take time to prayerfully consider your pledge for this year. Open your hearts in support of the ABCD and the hundreds of thousands of people it helps by making a gift. Each gift makes a difference and changes lives.

Please be mindful when parking your car There is always plenty of parking available around the church

and under the bridge. “Fire Lanes” are exactly THAT. There are lanes to be left open

for an emergency for Fire or Emergency vehicles. Fire lanes are not parking lanes.

Cars parked in a fire lane can be towed according to code. We have not enforced this hoping for common sense and courtesy. However, we may have to do this for emergency safety sake.

Please park under the bridge when the regular parking plac-es around the church are all taken up.

Thank you for your charity and for your courtesy in this very important matter.
