From a Marianist Community of student brothers open to visitors for Sunday Eucharist, Queen of Apostles Community emerged as a non-territorial parish on August 28, 1973.

Continuing in the tradition of the Marianist Charism, we come together each week as a family of Catholic, Christian believers, to worship our God in the Eucharist with song &

praise and to share in the breaking of the Bread. In so doing, we proclaim our willingness to build a community of love and to be the holy people God calls us to be.

If you are visiting and worshipping with us for the first time, we extend to you our warmest welcome. Our prayer is that your worship experience will be uplifting and Spirit filled.

We hope you will visit us often and worship with us!

(If you’d like more information about us or would like to join our Community, please fill out the form on the back cover and drop it in the collection basket!)

NOTE: If the form on the back is missing, email [email protected] with your name, phone number, address and we’ll contact you about joining us.

Marianist Doxology May the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit be glorified in all places

through the Immaculate Virgin Mary.

QUEEN OF APOSTLES COMMUNITY (QAC)

STEWARDSHIP & GIVING

Second Sunday in Advent: “And this is my prayer: that your love may increase ever more and more in knowledge and every kind of perception, to discern what is of value…” (Philippians 1:9-10). Glittery holiday ads can blind us to our stewardship values and distort our needs and wants. It is important that during this season of endless buying we remember that each of us also has the need to give back to God and to those that are in need.

Second Sunday in Advent (Cycle C)

Presider...............................Fr. Tom Schroer, S.M. Assisting..............................Deacon Greg Cecere Liturgy Planner....................Marilyn Nagle Music Director.....................Teesie Lupp Interpreter for the Deaf........Paula Fleming

Baruch 5:1-9: The writer makes a vivid and comforting statement about the future of the chosen people. Biblical images of victory are employed here: robes, miter, throne. And these are complemented by images of peace: level paths, fragrant shade trees, and light. It is precisely in our darkest moments that we need to be reminded of the bright promises God has made—and will keep.

Philippians 1:4-6, 8-11: When Paul speaks of the knowledge that makes love overflow, he has in mind something more subtle than intellectual activity. He implies the wisdom found In keenness of perception. Rules are not enough...it takes insight, a kind of 6th sense to put faith into practice in the myriad circumstances that life puts in our path.

Luke 3:1-6: The quotation from Isaiah is an Advent song par excellence. The final words “all flesh shall see the salvation of God” are not quoted in Mark’s gospel account, or in Matthew’s. It is significant that Luke chooses to include them for they tell us something Luke will remind us of over and over again: the universality of salvation. The entire world is included in God’s plan...even the Gentiles are to be saved.

Ministers Taking Eucharist to Those Not With Us

Presider: Let us send these ministers to those who could not be with us.

Response: Receive the Body of Christ for the nourishment of those who are not here with us. Assure our friends of our prayers and blessings throughout the week.

receiving, to serving rather than being served - accept the inevitable challenges of aging with grace, humility, and wisdom. Do you remember the sisters, brothers, or religious order priests who made a positive difference in your life? Today many are elderly and need assistance...their religious communities struggling to meet retirement needs while continuing to serve the People of God. Pray for God's continued blessing on those who have faithfully served our Church and world. Religious institutes have invested primarily in ministry to others, and many have limited retirement savings. Through our donations, we share in the actual care of these selfless, dedicated women and men. Please give generously today Make checks out to QAC with Retired Religious on the memo line. It features the story of a young man brought to the United States at four years old, and how the Dream Act made it possible for him to go to college and get a good job. Invite your parishioners, family and friends to check out the link at www.catholiccincinnati.org/BeingPro-Life.

MEDITATION OF THE DAY: 1John 1:7 states: “If we walk in the light as God himself is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, God’s Son cleanses us from all sin.” If we walk in the light and have true fellowship with others who are in the light then we have an opportunity this Advent season to show this light to others. Many people are more open to things of God around Christmastime compared to the rest of the year. This Advent let your light shine and share the message of the baby who would grow to become the promised Messiah who would rule the world!

REVENGE OF NEW COMMONPLACE WORDS Caterpallor (n.) The color you turn after finding half a grub in the fruit you're eating. Decaflon (n.) The grueling event of getting through the day consuming only things that are good

for you. Disconfect (v.) To sterilize the piece of candy you dropped on the floor by blowing on it, assuming

this will somehow 'remove' all the germs. Dopelar Effect (n.) The tendency of stupid ideas to seem smarter when you explain them rapidly. Elbonics (n.) The actions of two people maneuvering for one armrest in a movie theater. Extraterrestaurant (n.) An eating place where you feel you've been abducted and experimented

upon. Also known as an E-T-ry.

ANIMAL TRUISMS If you think dogs can't count, try putting three dog biscuits in your pocket then giving Fido only two

of them. In order to keep a true perspective of one's importance, everyone should have a dog that will

worship him and a cat that will ignore him. No one appreciates the very special genius of your conversation as the dog does. People that hate cats will come back as mice in their next life. Thousands of years ago, cats were worshipped as gods. Cats have never forgotten this.
