Second Grade Unit Five:Georgians & Civil Rights
Sarah Blascovich BrownTeacher on Assignment
What really matters in Unit Five?• Who are Dr. King & Jackie Robinson?• Why do we remember them today?• How did where they lived affect
them?• How did they influence our state &
nation (even today)?• What choices did they have to make?• What were the results of those
choices (positive & negative)?• How are our lives different from
theirs?
In addition: *Use Unit Five as a review
of economics concepts like scarcity & opportunity
cost.*Review the regions of
Georgia to discuss differences in where Dr. King & Jackie Robinson
lived in the state.*Movement (as a
geographical concept) is very important in the lives of both men, and tracking where they lived provides great map skill practice.
