DefinitionsCouncil means Ruapehu District Council or any duly authorised officer of Council. Authorised Council Officer means any person appointed or authorised by Council to act on its behalf and with its authority including a Police Constable.Ride a Skateboard means having either one or both feet, or any other part of the body of any person, on the skateboard when it is moving. Skateboard means a wheeled device controlled or propelled by gravity or by the muscular energy of the rider, including roller skates, in‑line skates, or similar recreational devices. The definition does not include any wheelchair, baby or invalid carriage or bicycles.
The Ruapehu Bylaw 2018Clause 12.7 of Council’s Ruapehu Bylaw states:
12.7 Control of Skateboards and Similar Recreational DevicesNo person shall ride any recreational device in any area defined in Schedule 2 of this Bylaw.Schedule 2 states:The use of skateboards or similar recreational devices is prohibited on footpaths in the following areas:
TaumarunuiBoth sides of those streets enclosed within theexernal boundaries of:• Hakiaha Street from Katarina Street to Turaki
Street, • Turaki Street and Morero Terrace to Miriama
Street,• Miriama Street from Morero Terrace to Katarina
Street, and of • Katarina Street to Miriama Street to Hakiaha
Street.
Ohakune• State Highway 49 (Clyde Street) from Rata Street
to Arawa Street, incorporating Goldfinch Street to Ayr Street.
• Both side of the streets enclosed within the boundaries of Mangawhero Terrace, Tyne Street, Rimu Street and Thames Street, otherwise known as The Junction.
Raetihi• Seddon Street from State Highway 4 to Ballance
Street.Waiouru• Both sides of State Highway 1 and 49 within the
70km zone, including the 50km slip lanes.
