ATC PROCEDURES

Advanced Technology Complex (ATC) First / Second Day Student Instructions:

ATC students need to report to the Guyer High School Auditorium on the first two days of school at the beginning of the assigned ATC class. A brief presentation covering procedures and policies will be provided before students are dismissed to go to the ATC.

For afternoon ATC classes students will need to take “A” lunch and then report to the Auditorium. The ATC bus will be held until after the presentation. If students have questions regarding the automobile registration process for driving and parking a car at the ATC they must contact the ATC directly at 940-369-4850.

STUCK ON YOU!

When you walked in you all received a sticker to place on your shirt. Look at your sticker and find your classmate with the matching sticker. You’re now partners! You will interview them (name, grade, hobbies, fun vacation, favorite subject, one unique fact, what they love, what they loathe, etc.). Be sure you take notes and get the information. You (interviewer) will each be responsible for introducing each other (interviewee) to the rest of the class.

UNITED STATES PRESIDENTIAL SCHOLARS PROGRAM AND CTE STUDENTS

Calling All Seniors

Seniors chosen as U.S. Presidential Scholars are selected by the Commission on Presidential Scholars and will receive an all-expense paid trip to Washington, D.C. where they will be presented with a medallion at a ceremony in their honor. The Texas Commissioner of Education will nominate five students who have excelled in a CTE program to apply as part of the United States Presidential Scholars Program. This is the first year that CTE students have been included as nominees for this prestigious award.

Application due date is September 11, 2015.

MY COMMITMENT TO YOU!

COMMITMENT TO MY STUDENTS

If you ever feel I am doing a poor job of living up to these commitments, please schedule an individual conference with me. I work very hard to make sure that I am true to my word.

I will always believe in your ability to succeed. This means my expectations are extremely high. I will demand your best at all times.

I will listen to you. I ask that you bring questions, concerns or comments to me in a calm, respectful manner at the appropriate time. Individual concerns should be addressed in individual conferences that can be arranged by seeing me before or after class.

I will respect you, and I will insist that others respect you in our class. Please let me know, in an individual conference, if you ever feel disrespected.

I will never assign work unless I can explain why it is important. I do not believe in busy work.

I will work hard and happily. I took this job because I love teaching, I love family and consumer science and I believe in my students and their abilities.

I will learn from you. You are smart people, and each of you brings experiences and perspectives to the class that will benefit the group. Please share your viewpoint every day!

MULTIPLE INTELLIGENCES It has been claimed by some researchers that our intelligence or ability to understand the world around us is complex. Some people are better at understanding some things than others.

For some of us it is relatively easy to understand how a flower grows but it is immensely difficult for us to understand and use a musical instrument. For others music might be easy but playing football is difficult.

Instead of having one intelligence it is claimed that we have several different intelligences.
