Christmas Means EAT!As I sit in church during Sunday morning services I am re-
minded of the true meaning of Christmas. The first adventcandle is lit and the original reason for celebrating shinesthrough as a sign of the anticipated birth of Jesus Christ.
I look around the beautifully decorated sanctuary full ofpoinsettias, christmas trees and pine boughs holding whiteminiature twinkling lights. Every year, the ornaments arehung with care. The empty manger sits at the side waiting tofill with props for the Christmas program.
It’s tradition. No matter what our choice of denominationor religious faith is, most agree Jesus’ birthday began the an-nual celebration. We follow the in the habits of our parentsand the way we were raised. As time passes and we grow,some traditions fall by the wayside and others are introduced.There are the trees, the lights, the parades with Santa, and theshopping. There are special movies, carols, programs andconcerts.
Then there is the food. You simply can’t have Christmaswithout that one special recipe. If we don’t cook at anyother time, we have to try our hand at kitchen dutiessometime during the holidays. Many happy memoriescome from those special times with loved ones whilepreparing special food items. And thanks to our readersand advertising sponsors who have shared some ofthose experiences, this issue is filled once again withmany winning recipes. I invite you to try at least one ofthem as who knows? You just might be creating anothermemorial tradition to add to your list. Until next month,Have a Blessed Christmas and Happy New Year!

businesses and individuals. TheLockkeepers House sits along thebanks of the Miami - Erie Canaland is open weekdays during reg-ular chamber business hours andon Saturdays, Dec. 7 & 14, from1:30 - 4p.m. for this special holi-day event.
The Jingle Bell Lighted HorseParade will bring wonderful holi-day fun to the Mercer CountyFairgrounds on Saturday, Decem-ber 6th. The parade will featurehorses and their riders, manypulling decorated carriages andwagons, all dressed up for the hol-idays. The parade will take placeat 7:30 pm on the horse track infront of the grandstands of thefairgrounds in Celina, Ohio. Theevent also includes a holiday craft
fair from 9am to 9pm in the Jr.Fair building and delicioussweet treats and warming bev-erages.
And one of the most magnif-icent buildings in the Land ofthe Cross-Tipped Churches,The St. Charles Center locatedon US 127 south of Celina,opens its doors each year for aspecial holiday tradition. Be-ginning Sunday, December 7ththey will be open daily to the
public from 9am to 7 p.m. with 50nativity sets from around theworld on display throughout themajestic grand hall. Theses sets,ranging from the modern andstark to antique and ornate, are onloan from the University of Day-ton’s Marian Library. You will seehumble hand carved sets alongwith those in a full array of glitzand glam, all depicting the sceneof Jesus’ birth in a Bethlehem sta-ble. The visit is a delight for chil-dren of all ages and gives one aglobal perspective on the birth ofthe Christ child.
