FOG DRIVING SAFETY

123

Fog is a thin layer of cloud resting on the ground. Fog can reduce visibility for drivers, resulting in difficult driving conditions (less than 1 kilometer).

• Driving in fog is comparable to driving while wearing a blindfold.

• Statistically, fog related accidents carry the highest fatality rates.

• The best thing to do is to avoid driving in fog. Check weather forecasts and if there is a fog warning, delay your trip until it clears.

•Do and Don’t during fog

• Do Don’t

Slow down gradually and drive at a speed that suits the conditions. Recommended speed is 50 Km/h

• Don’t stop on the travelled portion of the road. You could become the first link in a chain-reaction collision.

Make sure the full lighting system of your vehicle is turned on.

• Don’t speed up suddenly, even if the fog seems to be clearing

Increase your following distance. You will need extra distance to brake safely.

• Don’t speed up to pass a vehicle moving slowly or to get away from a vehicle that is following too closely.

Heat can cause serious problems for drivers. As summer approaches, it’s important to prepare for the hot weather ahead.

• Check Your FluidsYou can save yourself a lot of hassle in the hot-weather months by monitoring your car’s fluids including, Coolant, motor oil, transmission fluid, brake fluid and windshield wiper fluid• Monitor Your Tire Pressure It’s a good idea to check your tire pressure each time you visit the gas station. Your tires actually expand when exposed to heat, and keeping them at the proper pressure will ensure that your vehicle doesn’t suffer from any issues.

• Keep Your Car’s Interior CoolHaving the right amount of coolant for your engine is essential, Before the heat hits too hard, make sure your air conditioning system is running properly.
