GAME PREVIEWVSKapolei Hurricanes Wai‘anae Seariders

Last week’s match up for the Seariders was barely a challenge, as they annihilated the Waipahu Marauders. It took a while for the

offenses to warm up, as both teams were stuck at zero at the end of first quarter. Searider quarterback, Kekoa Kaluhiokalani, lit the flame, throwing the first touchdown pass of the game to running back Mahvan Tau; putting Wai‘anae in the lead 7-0. The fire spread as the Seariders turned up the heat both offensively and defensively, racking up 39 unanswered points while holding the Marauders to zero. The Seariders hope to keep the flame burning

as they face off against the 6th ranked Kapolei Hurricanes. Both teams will be looking for their sixth win on the season, but the Seariders intend on handing Kapolei their second loss. This is the last game of the regular season for the Seariders and it

also determines their seating in the playoffs. Although their spot in the playoffs is guaranteed, these Seariders won’t take this game lightly. “Going into this game is no different than a regular

season game. This is not the last game for us,” expressed senior linebacker Cameron Cardus-Hamp. Tonight is also “Senior Night” which means, do or

die for the Searider’s senior players. Many of who will hang up their cleats at the end of the season. “I’m really excited because this is our time to shine, so the win is very important to me because it’s my last homecoming and I want to leave on a good note,” said senior defensive back Jeremy Bermodez. Although homecoming on the home field has ended

in disappointment the last five years, the Seariders will do their best to hold it down for their city tonight and come out on top with the “W” for the “W”.

Being that this your last homecoming game, ex-plain how important the win of this game is to you.

This game means a lot to me. It’s important to me be-cause this is my last home-coming game playing for Wai‘anae.

How do you want to help your team push harder than usual during the game?

Motivate them in a way that I never did before. Make them feel confident in this game.

Who or what has stood out as a motivation for you the most throughout this sea-son? Why?

Throughout my season my parents/girlfriend stood out the most because whenever I felt discourage, they were the main ones who was there to rise me up.

Describe the impact that playing football has had on your life throughout these past four years playing.

It taught me how to do my best in everything I do and taught me how to handle problems outside of school.
