P R E S C H O O L10 Month Licensed Preschool3-4 YearsThis preschool program is all about learning through play; encouraging children to develop independence, learning to solve problems, exploring the world around them, and nurturing their natural desire to learn. Every month we create a fun theme that guides the various daily activities. Each day, rain or shine, the children will venture outside to our outdoor play space or nearby trails to explore, run, and play. Upon returning inside, the children will enjoy snack time, activity centres, arts & crafts, circle and story time.

Throughout the year, the preschool program will go on a variety of field trips and participate in special activities such as swimming and skating. Parent participation for these outings and special activities is greatly appreciated.

Our ECE certified staff provide a fun and safe environment for your little one to grow and develop their cognitive, physical, and social skills at their own pace. Join us in the mornings or afternoons, where your preschooler will build a strong foundation for the routines of Kindergarten and beyond.

Children must be toilet trained and 3 years old by Dec 31, 2014 in order to register.

SEAPARC Staff Profile

Wolf’s Den: Show us your leadership chops!

People may recognize Wyatt from one of his multiple roles at SEAPARC. He started as a summer camp volunteer in 2011 and is now one of our popular summer camp staff and he also works as our Kindergym & Birthday Party Leader. When asked what he likes about working at SEAPARC his response was “It’s so fun! It doesn’t even feel like a job! You play games, swim and hang out with amazing kids.” His favourite out trip with our summer camps is East Sooke Park.

Wyatt was born and raised in Sooke. He is a Grade 12 student at EMCS who has a special interest in science. In his spare time, he plays rugby and completes triathlons and 1⁄2 marathons. His favourite movie is Lord of The Rings, and he would love to travel to Tanzania to observe chimpanzees.

Wyatt’s co-workers describe him as thoughtful, smart, energetic, helpful and fun. The summer camp kids describe him as “fun to play with”. We are proud to have him as part of the SEAPARC team!

Starfish/Duck4 months – 24 monthsThis is an introductory class for babies and toddlers, and their parent or caregiver. To enter this level, children must be able to hold their head up. The goal of this class is to experience buoyancy, movement, entries and holds in the water. Children and parents will build confidence while enjoying the water through games, songs and active participation.

Salamander/Sunfish3-5 yearsIn Salamander, unassisted floats and glides are taught. Rollover glides and front swims are introduced through games and songs. The fun includes jumping into chest deep water. Sunfish pushes the distance of all glides, and floats in deep water are practiced. Learning also focuses on good judgment in, on or around the water.

Sea Turtle/Sea Otter2-5 yearsSea Turtle is a transitional level for preschoolers aged 24 – 36 months and either their parents or caregivers. Parents can gradually transfer their preschooler into the care of an experienced instructor where they will develop skills in swimming and water safety. Floats and recovery to a standing position are introduced and practiced. In Sea Otter, front glides are performed without assistance.

Crocodile/whale3-5 yearsPreschoolers start independent glides and kicking in deep water. Endurance is built though increasing distances for front and back swims as well as maintaining a surface support for 10 seconds. In Whale, focus is on progressions to front crawl. Front glides and front swim are performed for 10m. The basics of diving are introduced.

Sooke Bike Park

The Sooke Bike Park accommodates all levels of riders.

It allows a safe place for youth and families to be active

together in their own community.

The pump track, Phase One of the Sooke Bike Park, is ready

to ride! Construction of the multi-use trail from Throup

Road to SEAPARC is underway. Our goal is to have Phase

Two of the Bike Park (beginner pump track, refurbished dirt

jumps and skills loop) funded and ready for construction

by Spring 2015. Please contact Steve Knoke, SEAPARC

Manager, if you are interested in donating (in cash or in

kind) to this community driven project.
