National Guard Training Center SEA GIRT Welcome to the National Guard Training Center (NGTC), Sea Girt, New Jersey! Since 1885, the NGTC has provided training and instruction to New Jersey's citizens soldiers, airmen, and law enforcement professionals. The installation consists of 48 buildings on 168 acres. Tenants are the 254th Regional Training Institute, 63rd Army Band, Medical Command, National Guard Militia Museum, NJ State Police, Juvenile Justice Commission, Department of Criminal Justice, and the Department of Corrections . The New Jersey National Guard utilizes and operates the facilities throughout the year to conduct instructional courses, Inactive Duty Training and Annual Training. The Regional Training Institute (RTI) and Lodge are utilized to provide classroom instruction and lodging for students throughout the nation. Wildlife and Habitat Areas at NGTC In spite of its relatively small size, the National Guard Training Center has a great diversity of wildlife habitats. This diversity, combined with its unique coastal location, lends to a wide range of species that can be observed at the facility. It is important that visitors respect the wildlife by staying out of the designated protection areas, wetlands and wetland buffer areas, keep pets off the NGTC, and follow all other posted rules. Quarters 1 (shown here) is part of amid-18th to mid-19th century

farmstead and is eligible for listing inthe National Register of Historic

Places. This historic farmhouse isassociated with Commodore RobertStockton's plantation, and post-CivilWar, served as a summer retreat for

the NJ Governor.

Cultural Resources at the NGTCRare Wildlife Success Story at the NGTC!

Efforts to protect portionsof the beach for rare

beach-nesting birds hasproven successful, withthe return of two PipingPlover breeding pairs in2019 after a several year

absence from the site.
