• What is Inclusive Kids?

It is with great excitement that we announce BarRat and Jess, from 91.9 Sea FM, will be proudly supporting the Inclusive Kids Community Grants Fund over the next 12 months.

You can expect a lot of banter and enthusiastic commentary from BarRat and Jess throughout the year, as they promote Inclusive Kids and the great things the fund does for the Sunshine Coast and Moreton Bay Communities.

Our social media, correspondence and newsletters will include more stories about the children and families who are receiving support from the fund. The positive impact that each grant has on the child and family inspires the Inclusive Kids team,and we are pleased that you will be able to share in these moments as well.

Though Inclusive Kids has much to celebrate in terms of grant approvals for the 2016 financial year, the sad fact is that we are unable to fund every application and many families with desperate needs unfortunately miss out.

Fund Manager, Clint Lovell, says, “This isn’t because the community isn’t giving to Inclusive Kids. To the contrary, it seems that we have captured the imagination and loyalty of many people due to our simple application process and the fact that people who donate can be confident that 100 % of all funds donated go directly back to those in need.”

More people are becoming aware of Inclusive Kids, with many more desperate families realising that help may only be a simple application process away. Inclusive Kids 2016 Financial Year

It has been a massive financial year for the Inclusive Kids Community Grants Fund, with $84,474.27 donated to the Sunshine Coast and Moreton Bay communities. This is more than $10,000 over the amount we gave back to the community for the previous year and as a result, we have been able to assist hundreds of children and young people who needed a helping hand. Community Outreach Programs received $15,800 which enabled them to provide much needed emergency relief and counselling services throughout the Sunshine Coast and Moreton Bay regions. Inclusive Kids also donated in excess of $8,300 to children who needed communication devices; $3,500 went towards educational courses for young people; $3,000 assisted children who required immediate surgery; $7,500 purchased educational resources; $15,800 was provided to families in need of respite; $26,000 was given for disability and therapy support, with a further $4,000 contributing towards the payment of a service response dog.

As I reflect on these incredible figures I can’t help but remember that there were still in excess of $58,000 worth of applications we were unable to fund. I recognise that, though we can be proud of our communities for giving so much, none of us can afford to become complacent and think that every need is met. As we enter a new financial year

we encourage everyone to dig just a little deeper so that this year even more children and young people can be assisted. Remember, EVERY cent is given back to the community. There are no overheads, administration fees or wages paid out of your donations.

Without the support of these and other businesses and of course the hundreds of people like yourselves who placed coins and notes into our donation tins, we would not have been able to help as many children, young people and families as we have.

What is Inclusive Kids?

The Inclusive Kids Community Fund aims to assist disadvantaged children by providing small grants to assist with their day to day care or to purchase items that will create better inclusion in community life for these children. This Grants Fund is open to individuals aged 0–18 years, who live in one of the various areas in which the Grants Fund operates. We believe the grants we make are an investment, not only in the future of the individual, but in the future of their communities as a whole.

IFYS sees that the Inclusive Kids Community Fund complements the giving nature of our employee-driven contributions and our community fundraising initiatives. The Inclusive Kids Community Fund was established to support high quality, viable community care for individuals across the various communities in which it operates.

The Inclusive Kids Community Grants Fund is an important initiative of Integrated Family and Youth Service (IFYS Ltd), a non-government, community based organisation that, in its various manifestations, has operated across Queensland for over 30 years, providing a range of specialist support and intervention programs for children, young people and families.
