1 Race Engineering OPAS RXP/RXP-X Block-Off Install By: Keith “Kman” Karamanos (Sept 1, 2008) After much thought and from all the positive replies I have read on Green Hulk regarding the RE Block-Offs I figured it was time I purchased a set. After I received the package from Jerry, I was stunned to find no “How To” thread on how to install the RE’s. So here we are. 1) Remove the OPAS U-lever by removing the bolts indicated by the arrows. 2) Remove the tie-rods by unscrewing.

Race Engineering OPAS RXP/RXP-X Block-Off Install By: Keith “Kman” Karamanos (Sept 1, 2008)

After much thought and from all the positive replies I have read on Green Hulk regarding the RE Block-Offs I figured it was time I purchased a set. After I received the package from Jerry, I was stunned to find no “How To” thread on how to install the RE’s. So here we are. 1) Remove the OPAS U-lever by removing the bolts indicated by the arrows. 2) Remove the tie-rods by unscrewing.

3) Unscrew the bolt on the bottom of the OPAS Paddle. Also unscrew the small socket head cap bolt on the top side of the OPAS paddle. After you do so, the paddle should slide up and out. 4) After the paddles are off, remove the four hex bolts holding the cylinder support assemblies. Gently pull cylinder support assemblies away from hull. You will notice a small hex bolt on the hull when you remove the cylinder support assembly. DO NOT REMOVE THE SMALL HEX BOLT!

5) Remove tie-rods from hull. This may take time and patience. Rotate the tie-rod slowly as you remove it from the outside of the hull.

6) Remove the plastic cover on the inside of the pump tunnel. Keep the two screws after you remove the cover piece, as you will be using them to install the block-off cover plate.

7) Reach into the hull and remove the accordion tubes. Removing the seat cowl makes this much easier.

8) Clean the area where the RE’s will be bolted up to. Also clean the inside pump tunnel where the block-off cover plates will be installed. Notice we did NOT remove the head bolt.

9) To seal the RE’s to the hull and the block-off cover plates to the inside of the pump tunnel, Permatex’s The Right Stuff is highly recommended. You can get The Right Stuff at most auto parts stores. This bottle was purchased at Kragen Auto Parts for $14.99. 10) Apply a bead around the perimeter of the block-off cover plates and also around the bolt holes. Use the screws we saved earlier to secure the block-off cover plates to the inside of the pump tunnel. =

11) Make sure the RE’s backsides are clean. Test fit the RE’s before you install. The mounting holes may need to be elongated. Apply a bead around the perimeter of the RE and also around the bolt holes. Align the RE to the hull and use the applied bolts and washers to secure the RE to the hull. Applying a small amount of The Right Stuff to each bolt before installation is recommend. 12) Once you apply both RE’s to the hull and secure them, apply a bead between the hull and the front of the RE. Wet your finger with glass cleaner and then run it along the bead. This should smooth out the bead. Wipe off excess. All done!
